yikes ANTS yikes :thumbdown I have a horrible ant problem.:thumbdown I am a do it yourselfer so please post your best safe treatments for those with puppies in the house. :):D |
I have this problem in one of my bathrooms every year for about a week, I think it comes from a peony plant I have outside by that room, but I have tried alot of things, I don't like those sprays, but I have found " Terro" works its a thick liquid you put a drop on a piece of cardboard and they are drawn to it and eat it and die.. which leaves em dead on the floor but it works.. I place the little pieces of cardboard in places i know Baileys can't get to, he doesn't seem to even sense it's there or be attracted to it, I have watched to see. Good luck,, I HATE ants.. eww.. |
We get ants too and I hate them. We spray wth raid. We keep the dogs outside while we spray |

We use Bengal. It lasts about 6 months too. Find where they are coming from outside and spray that area as well. It will keep them from coming in - we spray all around the outside and don't see any ants. I HATE ants! |
i heard flour works. non-toxic and cheap! i'm gonna try it myself this week on my porch ants. |
I get ants every year for about 2 weeks. With having a puppy this year I had tp be carful. I put ant traps on the counter and sprayed by the sliding glass door where I could see the ant mounds. I just used Raid and kept the dogs from going out that way for a week and then between rain and washing the area down I had no problems and no more aunts. |
I had an ant problem last fall and kept complaining to my apartment people that it was getting worse & not better. I told them that they were getting on Sadie's hair & then biting her and I was tired of it. The silly little girl at the apartments (she's VERY young) suggested I put bleach on the floor and that would kill them. I was like "HELLO!!!! I have a DOG...If I put bleach on the floor she could get in it!" Note: I was HOLDING Sadie at the time she told me this, so it's not like she forgot I had a dog. |
Depending on what kind of ants they are, I believe someone posted here a while back to mix baking soda and like cake frosting...more soda than frosting. They will take it back to their nests and since ants can't relieve gas, it will end up destroying the colony. |

Ugh I came home today to a kitchen full of ants, the big ones. I got the bait traps and put them all over with a baby gate up to keep Simon out (he wants to eat the ants. Hallie seems to think they are gross! My apartment people are going to come tomorrow and spray. How long should I keep the gate up after they do that? This is all new to me, I never had any of this in Alaska. Mice and Ants, I love my apartment :( |
Guys thanks for all of the tips.... In desperation I picked up some ant spray, killed the ants and then mopped the floor..... |
