Lost dog blues 1 Attachment(s) I found this husky girl walking around the park today dragging a 6-foot rope/leash as if she'd broken away from being tied up. No tags. She's so sweet and well-mannered. Didn't even flinch at my barking Yorkies. My moral dilemma is I had to drop her off at Animal Control because she's too big to be around my boys. It was so sad because Animal Control didn't even write down the information I gave them about location and time of find. I'd DIE if I thought they were going to put her down. I printed up some FOUND signs and posted them all around the park. But what if somebody doesn't see them? I'm tempted to check back and make sure the owner claims her. But if she doesn't get claimed, what do I do? Was I right to drop her off at Animal Control or should I have just let her find her own way home? |
First of all. Good for you to help her! At least you know she's safe for now. I would call a local rescue and let them know about her. If she is not claimed, the rescue can go get her before time is up. We had a similar situation about a year ago. Found a Borzoi with no tag, leash and walking along a very busy street. Her owners claimed her the next day. She was micro-chipped. |

Look at your situation this way. The dog couldn't have roamed too far. If the owners are caring people, they will call ALL the shelters to see if she's there. If they are uncaring people the dog will go to a better home either through the shelter's adoption or by a rescue group. You did the right thing! I did and would again too. |

Nice job, Mike! You did good, pal! Don't fret. I love the rescue idea.:p Hope you find a suitable one there. |
I agree with Corrine first off good for you to get the dog to a safe place:thumbup: Secondly find a rescue group for Huskies. My nieces friend was giving away their Cairn Terrier and I looked online and found a rescue group that took him in a heartbeat! |

    I agree 100%!!!! Great Job Mike! I hope the owners are caring people, if not the Rescue group will take care of her. She's sweet looking, I'm sure she wants to find her way home.:) :) :) :) |
Beautiful dog. I hope someone is missing her. At our shelter they will keep a "lost and found" animal for 1 week to give the owners an opportunity to claim it...then it would be released for adoption. A dog that appears full-blooded doesn't stay at the shelters long. I'm certain someone there will adopt her too. |
Oh I hope she finds her way home. You were in a tough spot Mike. Good idea about calling the rescue agency. |
You did a great thing! Just make sure to call rescues, as some shelters don't give big dogs much time |
gorgeous dog. You did right under the circumstances. You've got to look out for the little ones. Personally, I would keep checking to see if someone claimed her. I would start looking for someone that could take her until a home could be found or a rescue place. ??? Aside from that, I hope the owners are looking for her. |
You did the right thing by that poor doggie! At least you know he/she is not wandering around any more. He's safe and warm and fed. No chance of wandering into the street or being picked up by someone who would abuse him. Hopefully the owner will claim him, but if not he has the chance for a good home with someone else looking for a dog. Leaving him out on the street would have been cruel. Hope he finds his way home soon. |
