Hugs Needed!!!!!
 

My Dad passed away yesterday morning. He had emphysema which was getting worse and he had to stay on oxygen all the time because his breathing was so bad. Early yesterday morning we had a storm that came through town and the electricity went off. His oxygen pump was electric and it must not have had a battery pack (I'm not sure exactly what happened) to kick on when the electricity went off. Anyway a neighbor went over to check on him when the storm quieted down, but it was too late. I spoke to Dad's girlfriend and she told me that the day before was a good day for him and that he was joking and having a fun time. That really helped knowing that. I really am doing ok. He was in and out of the hospital so we had time to say our "I love you's". It hurts that I wasn't with him when he went, but I guess that it wasn't meant to be. My Mom and Dad were divorced and I have only one brother, who lives out of town, so all of the decisions are pretty much up to me. My brother's here to help but he's pretty much no help. Dad didn't own anything much so as far as splitting everything up there won't be any problem. I think of all of you as my friends and I just wanted "my friends" to know that I was having a rough day.

Diana, I am so sorry for your loss! I know your Dad knew you loved him and it was o.k. with him that you were not there with him when he passed away. Just think, he is no longer struggling for that next breath...he is whole once again! You are in my thoughts and prayers during this rough time for sure. Each day will get better for you. Just take care of yourself at this time!

Diana, I am so sorry to learn of your father's passing. Mine died a little over a year ago similar to yours that it was expected at that time. I understand completely. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and may time heal the pain. Treasure your memories and take care...

Oh gosh Diana... I am so sorry... I lost my dad at 7 yrs. old and it was hard to deal with... I pray to god he grants you peace and strength to deal with your feelings today...lots of hugs via your way!

that's just awful that it happened like that... and one of my fears with my husband. He is very bad with the same disease also... & another member just lost her Father in Law to this evil illness also just 2 days ago :( :( I'm so so sorry.

Thanks so much. I really treasure each of your responses. Yesterday was really tough, but I had a couple of aunts that came and spent the day with me today and we have laughed and laughed. (I had printed out the page about the bikini wax and one of my aunts read it out loud!! Too funny!!!) Today has been a really good day. My Dad would have wanted us to laugh and have fun. He had such a sense of humor. I told people to wear bright colors to the funeral and that I wanted it to be a happy occasion!! My Dad's funeral is not something that I want to remember with sadness, but I want to remember that it was a fun day!!

Oh my... You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. When I lost my dad a few years ago, I found myself looking through lots of old photographs. I ended up making an iMovie and it helped me a lot and my family loved it!
