Any ideas anyone??? Well my husband went for his heart cath today. I had such a very bad feeling and when it was done I had to go talk to the cardiologist in the cath lab. He said there was nothing wrong with my husbands heart and he needed to get off of all the medication he is taking. I was dumfounded as we have had another cardiologist tell us that part of his heart is basically dead and another doctor that said he had alot of heart problems. The first two doctors that he say is the ones who gave him all the medication he is on. The cardiologist said he didnt need to see him anymore. I have watched my husband and most every day you can physically see how bad he feels, and the chest pain that he has. At first my hubby said fine I won't take any of the meds anymore. Mind you alot of these meds it says to not stop taking all at once. For right now he has agreed to keep taking them until his next doctors appointment with his family doctor. Both of us are going to that appointment. Do you think we should ask for a referral to a specialist in Indy or what? I am pretty friggin stressed right now. I just don't know what to make of this. |
I wish I had some advice for you. Don't quit taking them until he sees another specialist. I will pray for you and your hubby. Good luck at the Dr.s. |
So far he has agreed to continue them until he goes back to his family doctor on the 23rd. Guess we will just have to go from there. |
I'd get a second opininion from another CARDIOLOGIST. (or would that be third or fourth opinion). I'd also ask to see the results of the tests and have them explained to you. BTW, it's great if he doesn't need the meds, but find out who to see about what IS causing his pain. Good luck to you, and keep us posted. It can be a nightmare trying to figure out these medical issues and who you can trust. |
The only other options we have are to get a referral to a cardiologist in Indy. And to see people there you have to be referred. Yes it is very confusing and scary to have different doctors tell you different things. I know it is aggravating for him too. |
My husband went in for an Angiogram and he had blockages in his stomach and leg arteries. We were referred to a local hospital and cardiologist and they were going to give him a clot busting drug he didn't clots he had blockages we went to a specialist at a big hospital and they did an angioplasty. Make sure you get another opinion. Just curious are you in an HMO? |
No we are not in an HMO. It is very scary. Guess ow we just wait to see what the family doctor says two weeks from friday. |

I'm with everyone else and would definitely get another opinion from a cardiologist. I was having severe heart palpitations and panic attacks a few years ago and one Dr. told me I was just stressed out. I went to another cardiologist and he diagnosed me with mitral valve prolapse. So it wasn't all in my head like the first Dr. made it out to be! Good luck and please keep us updated! |
Well we have an appointment with our family doctor on Thursday. And will just go from there. To get an appointment with any specialist you have to have a referral. So hopefully we will get some answers to the many questions that we have. |
I am a nurse--I don't know what meds he was on but I would suggest that you get more information regarding the meds. That sounds strange to me. Does he have high blood pressure? Are the meds for cholesterol, blood pressure, clotting??? How long has he been on the meds and who prescribed them? Some meds are to prevent complications. I would suggest you do some research and find out what the particular meds are for. Sometimes people can stop taking certain meds but it all depends what they are. I also am a nurse. We researched every medication he was put on when the cardiologist put him on them. And then I refreshed myself last night. He is on a ton of them. Imdur, Cordarone, MS Contin,Plavix, Crestor,Corgard,Cymbalta, Lasix, Potassium just to name a few. Most of thecardiac meds you are not supposed to stop suddenly. Thanks guys for listening to me go on and on. |
