Advice Needed: My mom is sick and.. My mom is getting her ankles swollen all the time... she gets these little red dots sometimes too when she has been on her feet for a long time..anyhow her whole leg gets swollen from her foot to her calf.... and to top it off she is trying to combat the flu she lost her voice but since she has heart problems she cannot just take any type of medicine... any home remdedies you guys might know of for any of this>??? Thanks!!!:) |
With her history of heart problems, I would think that sitting with her feet up ... higher than her heart ... would relieve the swelling. My Mom had heart surgery and they took vessels from her leg for the heart bypass [3 of them] and hers swell like that. Having her feet propped up causes the swelling to go down. Has she talked to her doctor about this? I hope she will be OK! |

Great advice but, I would also go ahead and call her doctor and see what they suggest. |
She needs to talk to her doctor and try putting her feet up. |
right now she does not have the $$ to see a doctor.. told her I would pay but she said she will wait ..... mothers they can sure be stubborn!;) |
Maybe she could go to a walk in clinic they are less expensive. |
She needs to stay away from salt!!! And put her feet up. |
have you tried www.webmd.com? they have this thing where you check off a list of symptoms and they give you ideas of what could possibly be wrong? and also yes feet up will help with the swelling. :D i hope your mom feels better! i hate when my mommy or daddy is sick. |
I don't want to alarm you, but swollen legs and fatique are signs of congestive heart failure, VERY SERIOUS. Your mother should consult a dr (over the phone) if she is not going to see one, expecially with her history of heart problems. |
I agree she should just call. That won't cost her. Maybe you can call her DR for her. It might be something more serious with her heart and needs to see a DR. Calling can't hurt. |
Absolutely, at least call her doctor!! Meanwhile, get those little feet propped up higher than her heart! Don't let her just prop them in a "prissy" way, barely off the floor ... my Mom tries that with us! :p They need to be up ... higher than her heart! Please keep us updated. |
Yes, feet up for sure. Also, have it checked by a doctor even more importantly. Has she ever been tested for diabetes? I have seen what you're describing happen with diabetics and it is definately betterto be safe than sorry.:) |
yes.. she has been tested for diabetes but she does not have that... thanks for the help! |
