That's because that memory had been throw into the dark recesses of our brains...no one wants to remember there were worse things than having to get up to change the channel on the TV. :rolleyes:

Has anyone mentioned that our play grounds were usually on macadam or concrete? Nothing like a fall from the monkey bars onto concrete! :)

Okay, youngsters - What modern conveniences did we NOT have when I was a child? I was born in 1943 - and the answer is just about ALL of them.

1961 for me. I got a couple....debit cards, ATM machines and antihistamines that don't put you to sleep, superglue, velcro (I think that may have been mentioned already) and fax machines!

The first car I remember was Avocodo green. I can remember being embarassed to ride in it. One black & white tv, one bathroom, one car, one telephone for a family of 5....

I went to sleep every night listening to a RECORD of Bobby Goldsboro, and if you were lucky enough to get a pair of "bf flyers" you REALLY could run faster and jump higher.

Pouring your peanuts in a 6 ounce glass bottle of coke so you could drink your coke and eat your peanuts while riding your bicycle.....

Yowza! What would we do without ATM cards and machines??? Carry cash? Write checks? Actually go INTO a bank??? The Horror!!

LOL....I didn't think anybody outside of my hometown had heard of Bobby Goldsboro..he was from my hometown of Dothan, AL.

First of all, those were NOT dry-roasted peanuts in those days. The only kind available was the kind that are cooked in oil and salted. Second - get some and try it, you'll like it. We all did back in the 50's.
