Spilled coffee on keyboard I spilled coffee on my laptop computer and now some keys dont work and it is acting funny. Has anyone did this before and was your computer okay after it dried |
Uh oh! You should turn it off, then let it dry out, as the liquid could cause further problems if the laptop is still on. Or flip it upside down to get all the liquid out (after turning it off). If after a few hours or a day, the laptop still has problems, then you would probably need to replace the keyboard. If you have a Dell or other popular laptop, replacement keyboards are fairly cheap on eBay. It's rather simple to replace the keyboard yourself. |
Well it depends, on how much coffee... I did it not to long ago with nice sticky pop! A few of my keys stuck like crazy, it was driving me nuts, we had this stuff here at work, like wd40 but it wasn't, it was some kind of lubricating spray, I had to spray it on those keys and work it in with a Q-tip and it would loosen up, then the next day it was all gummed up again, took about a week to loosen it all up. Good luck. |
I spilled milk on my laptop and had to get a new one :( |
Ok I should definitely turn it off. Slip out the key board. Then clean, maybe use alcohol on a cotton ball or a Q-tip. And air dry. Good luck!!;) |
I spilled water on my key board one time and it ruined it, I was typing and it would show up as different letters. I had to buy a new key board. Maybe you can take it to a computer repair shop and they can clean it or do some magic repair to it. |

I did that with coke and it was sticky for awhile so I popped the key off and tried to clean it. It took a few days for it to get back to normal. |
That sucks! You should get one of those protective covers for your keyboard. They work like a charm and it keeps the dust out, too. |
my brother in law spilled wine on a laptop. it was fried. homeowners covered it! |
I did that with coffee too but I had sugar in it.... Yikes! Apple had to replace the keyboard and the motherboard! |
