Ok. Different Approach! I am moving my daycare to upstairs. The whole upstairs is my kids anyways so..As a parent and you have SKIN kids:D What would you like to see in a daycare for your child. ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE NEEDED AND APPRECIATED!!!!! I am also going to paint the rooms so what color schemes should I do? |
My kids are teens now, but I remember my girlfriend who had a day care in her home and she had a special room set aside for the kids. That way she didn't worry about them touching anything they shouldn't. It was a totally safe room. Bright primary colors are fun, with charectors the kids know and love, like Dora and Sponge Bob and Sesame Street. More than one of the same toy is nice because they don't fight over it. And my kids always loved to play house or school. A kitchen set, a vaccum, cleaning stuff. Or a chalk board and paper with crayons are always a big hit. If you have skin kids I would suggest that their personal toys and books not be used for the daycare. It's really hard, and in my opinion, not fair for them to have to share all of their stuff with everyone every day. There should be seperate things for the day care kids. That is just my opinion, though. When are you starting? It is fun, but really hard work. I did it for about a year when my son was 2 and my daughter was an infant. It didn't work out for me, I hated having to share mommy with everyone. There was always something my kids wanted or needed and I was too busy for them.. I finally said to myself that I was doing this so I could stay home with my kids but my kids seem to always be getting the short end of the stick. I think now that it was just the wrong time. My kids were too young. Good luck with it! |
I ahve done this for almost three years. I took a month off and zI have decided to move my dc upstairs. I have 4 bedroom up stairs and a bathroom so itll be perfect. I should have dont this about 2 years ago...im going to enjoy it alot more now.... |
:) This is just a suggestion, but how about making a website w/ log in's and having a camera in those rooms so the parents can log in from work and check up on their kids???? This is a really big hit here... you can get those webcams really cheap now adays..... good luck! |
If I were sending my children to a day care, I would want them to learn something while there. Maybe have a lot of education toys, books and art supplies for them to occupy themselves. |
Congratulations Kristy on this new move . . .bright colors always look great at the daycare . . . makes it cheerful and bright! |
How big is your area that you are going to use? |
yeah. Me and Jeff was talking and see right now iA have it down stairs and its just too cramped down here and I have a big house. I need more of a space to have tables and all that stuff so now I got it :). I just went to a garage sale and I got a big wooen table already painted for daycare, a almost brand new play pen, tons of baby toy sna dlots of other toys for 20.00 :D :D . We have always done crafts and alphebet and story time but everything is thrown everywhere. This will be soo much better. Im so excited! :) |

I cannot believe NOBODY has any suggestions! Come on People!!:( |
Ok, trying to picture your house... Is the floor you are planning to use have the kitchen on it as well or like a two story with the bath and bedrooms upstairs and the kitchen on the middle floor? |
Also will the rooms be used for non-daycare related things as well or just daycare? |
Ok here goes.... I would want to see the walls painted bright primary colors with tables and funiture the same bright color scheme. In a day care I would want to have a lot of educational toys, puzzles, etc. I would like to hear soft classical music and smell that "fresh clean house smell" that comes from a super clean home. It would be very important to me that ALL toys had "cleanable" surfaces, so that might rule out stuffed animals. Because I am a safety freak I would be somewhat concerned about my child being upstairs so, I would do some very serious investigating where the steps were at. Keep in mind that this is just what my opinion..... my children are grown and out of the nest, but they were "home raised" and never ever even stayed with a sitter -- I was just so very particular I could never find anyone who met my standards (except for the grandparents). Maybe this will open the floodgates and you will get lots of ideas. |
