liking different breeds Ok, My first and true love is my Doberman, Remmy. He is 12 now. Hes a champion and I got involved in the Dobe circuit. Then I went and bought a very tired and odd Parson Russell, and I got a little stink from the Dobe people. Now I actually at 39, tried to hide to my Dobe breeder that I bought my daughter and me a Yorkie. Now im starting to realize from being at shows, how some people say they love dogs, but they look down on whichever breed they dont have. Like Dobe people look down on small dogs and i dont know why. I cant understand why you cant mix and match. |
I don't understand it either. Snobs I guess. I love almost all dog breeds but of course I love Yorkies the best! ;) I think dobermans are so nice. Do you have a picture of Remmy? How does he get along with the others? |
I love all dogs. I would have all different breeds and mixed breeds too. I love my yorkie, but I also love the pound puppies I have bought in the past. Our next dog will be an English Bulldog. |
I wouldn't change it for the world! You CAN mix and match and my home is the PERFECT example! lol We've got: an American Bulldog (outside); a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (inside/outside); a Black Russian Terrier (inside) and a Yorkshire Terrier (inside). Everyone mingles from time to time except the Staffie and the AB, they'd kill each other if they could. Otherwise, no issues. I think it all depends on how you pick on their manners when they're around other dogs and that's pretty much it. A lot of owners don't know how to handle a multiple dog household, let alone a multiple breed household and I think that's where the steriotype comes from that it can't be done...not safely anyway. And I'm here to tell you they're wrong. :) Also, I'd like to mention that my folks have a multiple dog and breed household as well! (Akitas/Yorkshire Terrier) It's fun, and wonderful to have the breeds you love and can care for properly! |
I love all breeds of dogs even the mixed up breeds. They are all so wonderful in their own ways. I currently have 3 different breeds living under my roof. I have my yorkie and her pup and a maltese and 2 am. cocker spaniels. I love them all the same. I wouldn't give anyone up just cause someone didn't like the fact that I had a diff. breed. All of my babies are spoiled rotten. I dress them all up and but bows and etc in their hair. I grew up with a cocker so my first love was a cocker. :aimeeyork |
ps, I just wanted to note that the little ones do get locked up when ever no one is going to be home. Anything can happen (always remember that and that'll keep you sober when they're mingling) and so they're never together where they can't be heard or watched. |
I have 3 different breeds 1 Attachment(s) I have 3 different breeds but would love more yorkies. Maddie (long hair Chihuahua), GSXR (Jack Russell/s**tzu) and baby Dylan my newest addition (yorkie). I lost my 8 1/2 yr old yorkie, Kramer in January of this year. I wonder if I can talk my husband in to one more yorkie. |
I love all dogs, but I must say that I think that Yorkie people are the worst with regard to this subject about mixing and matching! LOL. If you mention getting another breed, without fail, ANY Yorkie lover will say "why not another Yorkie???" I love my baby Stewie more than anyone/anything, but I think I could love another dog/breed at the same time. |
My first dog was a superb Collie . She died 3 years ago . I'll be moving soon and I'll surely have one or two . |
Of all the small breeds, I really like Yorkies the best, but Malteses are a close second. I also have a big dog that I love. Her name is Nikki and she is an Alaskan Malamute. Everybody gets along great, but I never leave the Yorkies and the Malamute together unattended. She would never hurt them on purpose, but the extreme size difference is just an accident waiting to happen. |
I don't think everyone is like that. I have a yorkie and golden retriever that stays inside all the time and my husband have a bull dog, great dane, and a pitbull that stays outside |
I too love all breeds. I think I could be just as happy with one breed as I could another because each breed has something dif to offer and each dog as even more of that something unique quality to offer (did that make sense..it did to me lol). I used to do rescue so i have a few of those rescued that never left. I have my 3 yorkies as you all know..a cocker spaniel...a mixed breed (Husky, GSD & Golden retriever mix..and a mini pin..all were rescues except my yorkies. I also have 2 cats and 2 horses that were rescues lol..Now that I"m breeding I no longer foster at my home due that it's too risky for newborn pups...but we still help out in as many ways as we can. Everyone gets along great and it's nice with the variety because the ones that love the woods..well they stick with jess..the ones that love to lounge on the couch..they stick with chelsie..and so on and so on..so each of us always have a pet on hand to do what we like to do and they like to do..it works out great..oh and do i have a fav..depending on which moment you ask me lol.. |
There are OTHER breeds????????????????????????????? |
