Here Kitty, Kitty! Well, my mom was wanting me to take in her cat. They're going to be going on vacation and such and I said I'd take Tiger in. Well, she calls about 30 minutes ago...they're bringing me Fugly. Fugly is their next door neighbor's cat. I've known Fugly since they got him. Mom was crying on the phone. Since they've had Fugly, they have never once fed him. Fugly comes to my mom's house to eat. Fugly has never been de-wormed or had his shots...guess I'll be making a trip to the vet soon. For the past couple of days, mom had stopped feeding him...hoping he'd go home. Of course, he didn't. Mom says he sleeps in a ditch and when he came up to her last night, he was so skinny. She was crying as she told me, he was starving. She fed him and he would snatch the food out of her hand. Her biggest complaint..."Those people sit in their house. When they are hungry, they eat. How could they do this to an animal?" SOOOOO, Fugly is coming to stay with me. Some might say that what she is doing is wrong...since the cat belongs to someone else. In our eyes, it's a rescue. I'll be keeping him in the garage until he gets use to being around us and gets his checkup from the vet. Now...what to do with my parakeets! |
Oh, and I'll have to get him neutered. Cat piss is one of the worst smells in the world and I don't want him spaying all around my house! |
Yikes- that will be a big adjustment and excitement for awhile!!! Good Luck with getting him heathly. I met a woman last week- she has a Brussels Griffon- she named he EEUUgly (don't know how she spells it)cause she said he is so ugly. I take it Fugly is not the most handsome? |
Kimberley, I think of it as a rescue too! If people can't take care of their pet then, they should'nt have one. I am not a cat lover, but I would never mistreat any animal. You are a sweetie for taking the kitty in. |

I'll have to take pictures.:p |

I'm not really fond of cats either, but this little guy just needs a chance.:( |

aww- he sounds really beautiful. I hope he adjusts well. How can people treat animals like that- even if they don't like him- how hard would it be to find him a new home. |
Good for you Kimberley! :bravo: I would definitely say what you're doing is a rescue and in the best interest of the cat. Fugly's not a very nice name to begin with, doesn't sound like they cared about him all that much with such a name and to leave him outside and not feed him. He'll be much better off with you!! Sounds like you're a regular Dr. Doolittle around there. :D |
Aw Kimberly! That is so sweet of you! You are rescuing poor Fugly. You are not stealing the cat...they never owned him as they have never taken care of him anyway! If your mom has been feeding him, he is her cat! Just make sure your birdies have a padlock on their cage and don't let Fugly and Tiger watch any Tweety Bird cartoons!!! I tawt I taw a putty tat!!!!! |
You're doing the right thing Kim, kudos to you! I feel so bad for Fugly, but he's lucky to have you, especially since you aren't that fond of cats to begin with but are still taking him in! lol. Can't wait for pictures! |
Kim, I see is as a rescue also. At least poor Fugly has a chance now. Poor little guy. I get so mad at people that have animals and don't take care of them. Kudos to you indeed. :) |
Kimberley -   You know me - I have no problems with the kitty just disappearing from your neighbors house. It will be interesting to see how the dogs finally get along with him once he comes in the house. I have 2 siamese rescues and they have the run of the living room as the dogs tried to gang up on them. I know you can get them to get along but first to the vets.:) |
Wow, I am impressed. You can have both Yorkies and birds! How did you stop your babies from trying to get the birds? Quote:

Good job  Now, what does hubby and kids think of kitters? |
3 Attachment(s) Here is TIGER! We had to change his name from Fugly. See, he isn't an ugly cat. And SUCH a lovey! |
