I HATE MY BOSS..Listen to this!! So I was on vacation this past weekend.. I get back, and I got sick.. I was throwing up all day and couldn't stop. So i got no sleep. I called in sick that monday that I was suppose to go into work. Well today, my boss asks me for a doctors note!!!!!! Like I'm 12 years old in grade school or something. I'm 24 years old! I know when I'm sick, and when I can't go into work. Keep in mind, I earned 3 days of sick days.. I haven't taken one in 6 months. She said... Either bring in a doctors note, or work the day before I get sick.. as if I can plan it!...         p.s. I want to get in chat :( |
Oh, that sucks! I know how you feel. I've been sick too, since Tuesday afternoon. I called my ex-boss (didn't have my new manager's number with me) yesterday morning, told her I was sick. We chatted a little bit about an account that I was working on but our director took it away and assigned it to someone else (I was so mad!). My co-worker later called me and told me that our ex-boss told the new manager that "I was a little sick" and she thought the reason I didn't want to come in was because I was still mad. Arrghh...how rude! I WAS mad but got over it. Some people...just can't be managers. I feel ya. |
Yeah, I mean.. c'mon!! We are all adults here.. not 12 year old kids who need a babysitter and doctors notes. Then again, someone told me that they think the boss is afraid I will leave the company, and she could have thought that I was on an interview... hehehe, I wish that was true |
What a complete COW! I would bag up my vomit next time and place it on her desk with a note, so she knows you're sick :p  |

Poor Dena - that sucks and especially since you don't take that many sick days - MOST people don't see a doctor when they're sick. |
That does suck! |

LOL, Oh I sure hope your boss is nice to you!   Hope you feel better Dena :getwellso |
Awe, thanks guys! =) |
Lucky for my boss, she is the nicest person ever. Totally cool. She never asks for anything (minus all the damn processes she wants me to write up) ;) |
I had a boss ask me for a doctors note before...notice I said HAD. It is unbelievable to me that they could ask for a doctors note, I totally agree with you we are not 12!!! I like the idea of putting a bag of puke on her desk LMAO:D |
LoL!!! I know.. I have been looking for a new job for about a month now.. no luck yet... I hope I find something so I can leave though! |
That is awful, but for some reason I think more and more places are getting that way. When I worked, I had worked with this company for over 10 years and received 12 hours vacation and sick time a month - Great, right? Well, they always complained if you wanted to take vacation time and when you did want to take vacation, you had to send in a letter about the exact hours you are taking, etc several weeks (or longer) prior to the vacation day for approval. If something happened, and you had to be gone longer than planned, that was a big ordeal - but in some cases, what can you do? If the planes are delayed or problem with car, etc. there is nothing you can do. Sick time was another story - they wanted it approved too, as if you know when you are going to be sick. Doctor visits had to be approved prior to your appt. date and even then, they would like a doctor note (didn't enforce that though). Some appts. you can't help but get worked into, so those were last minute ones and they frowned upon that. If we missed 3 days in a row, that was a definite doctor note time, if no note, chances where that you got a mark in your file or something. They didn't understand school closings or holidays OR sitter problems. They didn't allow you to bring her kids to work (even though we all had offices), but they frowned upon you having to take off. I got to where I would either just take off or bring my daughter to work. They didn't say much because you couldn't tell she was there and I got a lot of work done that I wouldn't have otherwise gotten done if I were at home. They were pretty easy going (really) and actually a fun place to work, but when it came to time off, that was another story. BUT if you had over a certain amount of time saved up, you had to use them or lose them. - you could donate to a time pool, but they picked who the time went to (and it wasn't always the ones who needed it the most, but sometimes the ones who wasted all of their time and just wanted extra time, etc). I think a lot of it had to do the who was over us at the time - some were more laid back, others more strict. I enjoyed getting that extra time, but it was mine to use (in a sense) and I couldn't stand being treated like I was in elementary school again. Needless to say, I now enjoy using my time as I see fit without having to answer to anyone! hee,hee |
I hate it when people treat you like that! I am my own boss now...If I am sick, I don't work...period! My husband and I work together and I double dog dare him to say something to me! :D The last job I worked was at a bank and my boss was a heart patient and just could not be around sick people. So all I had to do was call him and it was o.k. for me to stay home. He wanted me nowhere near him when I was sick...that went for everyone else in our office as well! I hope you can find something else to do really soon...something that you love to do would be great!!! |
