Was anyone disappointed yesterday? Are there any member here that are disappointed with how their Mother's Day turned out? |
I was a little bit! I have been taking care of my 86 year old parents for 5 months which I am happy to do but my brothers and sister kind of expect me to do everything because i lost my job so i am "not working". So yesterday we rented out the party room where my parents live and ordered Chineese in. Well I had to organize everything and order and pick up the food. I even bought my sister some chocolates for Mother's Day. Well no one said Happy Mother's Day to me , not even my mother. When I asked my husband if he knew it was Mother's Day and he said yes but you're not my mother so he never even wished me a Happy Mother's Day. But the party was nice and my dtr got me a beautiful plant and a gift card to Home Depot to buy plants for my garden. But Cali makes it all worth while and she gave me lots of kisses. |
I was very disappointed yesterday. Only 2 out of my 4 kids said happy mothers day to me. My husband and children thought that I should cook and clean all day! When I asked my husband what he was fixing for dinner he said he wasn't and wanted to know what I was cooking. Then after that he demanded a hair cut! Can you believe that? All in all I wish they would've just all gone away and left me to cook and clean by myself.:( |

Im sorry that happened to you Patti! Your the sweetest person! Don't feel bad though. I got to clean house and have a migraine all day. And I didn't get a card or anything. But the best thing was when my boys just came up and gave me a kiss and said happy mothers day! That made my day! |

aww. I'm so sorry you had a bad day..... Happy Mother's Day from Me & my twins... |
I didn't even get a card......and this is my first mother's day. :( |
Sad to say, I was. My kids weren't into it, but my friend made up for it. He spent the day with me and took me to lunch & dinner. |
Thanks well at least I am not alone! I to cleaned the house! I'm glad I have my YT family!!! |
I'm so sorry for any of you who did not have a good Mother's Day. A lot of men just don't get it. I have 6 kids, they live all over, and my son has been angry with me and has not been replying to my e-mails for a couple of months. I wondered if he would call, and he did. I think his wife may have motivated him. But I got 6 phone calls ad spent the day with my yorkies. So it was a nice day. |
I had to work all day and then got hit with a storm and my day was getting worse as it went along. but ...... Cindy0721 came along with a couple nice gifts and a big glass of iced drink. wasn't that nice of her? she is such a thoughtful person. :mademyday I never get upset on Mothers day. (even tho I want so badly to call my mother who passed away a couple yrs ago). I generally get a phone call from my kids and my X-step son too. that is all I need. Just to hear they are doing good. I sit back and remember when they were babies and how lucky the world is that I provided such great kids. My son, being a man, sometimes don't call but if I dont hear from him I will make the call. It is ok. If they were not to call me on mothers day, I give my self enough pats on the back on their behalf because I know I did the best I could do to provide them a happy life. They are happy ..so ... I am happy. |
Well, I was...but then I wasn't. I had to go to work... and then when I got back my younger son had gotten me the cutest card and a gorgeous clematis. My older son, nothing, not even a phone call :( But the really good part was that my husband, who doesn't get me anything or do anything usually (same old..."your not my mother") well he had HAND MADE me a card from my furbaby Cooper. He stamped his paw prints on it and everything...It was the cutest thing!! So out of the 3 boys, 2 came through, so all in all I can't complain :p |
I had a sad and sick Mother's Day. I lost my mom in july 0f 2000 to renal cancer so I was very depress cause I miss her so much. Also I have being on a flare(fibro, IBS and cfs) ,so I haven't being feeling well. I spent all day sleeping. My husband that always cook didn't even do that. We had sandwiches for lunch and dinner. Well, He did made breakfast. My kids woke me early thou to tell me Happy Mother's Day. I only got 2 cards one from my 5 yr old that made me a card at school and one ecard from my sis. My husband did say that he tried to charge a gift but the card was max out. My family did called to wish me a happy day. Im so sorry that you all had a disappointed Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day from Gucci and me. Hugs. :ghug: :daisy: :hug60: :hearts-xx :hearts-en :giftbox: :giftbox: |
Happy Mothers Day I am very sorry to hear about your mothers day:cry8: Family members can hurt you faster than strangers... I am almost feel bad telling you that my mothers day was great!!:D My 19 year old son bought me a beautiful heart necklace and chose a nice card.:luvu:   After church my husband, and sons and I went out hiking in the mountains!! It was awesome:coolsmile :mademyday I sure hope your family has changed their tune. And I wish you a very happy Mothers Day:rose: :rose:  |
Sucked for me too... I didn't get any gifts or cards either from any of my kids. Makes me wonder if I have done such a crappy job raising them they don't care to recognize it... Nah, just feeling sorry for myself. My son did call me around 3:30, just as I was getting really bummed out, and my daughter told me she did get me a card, she just wanted to give it to me in person and she was too sick Sunday to do so. I am sorry that so many others had a crappy day, :( but you know misery does love company!!:D |
I just wanted to let you know that I had a great Mother's Day. My furbabies got me up at 5:12am. I had to wade through puddles to feed the horses, clean out stalls, feed the furbabies and cat, try to clean up the water mess (my roof is leaking ). My grandson who we have had since he was 3 days old gave me a dozen roses, our son took my husband and I out to lunch and a play, all within steps of parking (husband can't walk far due to COPD ) he planned everything for us. My daughters all gave me cards, very touching ones at that. Took a driving tour of the neighborhood, checking on the ponds and streams. Most of our roads are closed due to all the rain.. So overall I can say I had a wonderful day, spent with my family.:ribbonp: |
Awwwwwwwwwwwww....HUGS to you all that didn't have a good day ! Even back before my husband got sick - he never did anything special for mothers day - I learned thru the years do NOT expect anything from anyone - that way you aren't dissapointed.....but both my sons both gave me sweet cards & phone calls. My oldest even gave one to MY Mom cause she helped so much when they were little and I was single.....He made her cry the card was so sweet...THAT made me so proud of him. To those who had a not so great day - HAPPY MOMS DAY FROM YOUR little Furkids ! Our children may NOT do what we hope they will do - but as they get older - believe me - they'll start appreciating their moms. |
This is so sad, I'm so sorry any of you had a bad Mothers Day.:( Mothers should be cherished and appreciated everyday of the year, and especially on Mothers Day, I hope my Mom feels appreciated, I'm gonna have to ask her... |
I didnt get any gifts or cards, but my oldest daughter and her friend made us Supper, she made, Steak, mashed potatoes, pasta w/ peas and carrots and made the table all pretty, it was very sweet of her, I told her, now that I know you can cook like this, you can cook more often LOL But of course she didnt want to do the clean up LOL |
Well I am usually disapointed in my Mothers day but not this year. My 5 yr old Daughter made me a handmade gift with her hand on it. My Son got me some roses and My Husband took us all out to dinner. So it was just good being with everyone. My Son came home frrom College for the weekend so it was good just seeing him. He has a new job and wont be home again untill July. I am sorry to anyone who had a bad Mothers Day. |

I had a good Mothers Day. I didn't do anything, but I was alittle sick with a stomach bug. I was offered a Sunday drive or a trip to a local craft fair or whatever, but I stayed home. My husband has a '68 Camaro that he is trying to finish up for a car show this weekend, so I wanted to give him that extra day to work on it. I didn't mind because I stay home and am free to go places (although weekend trips with him are way more fun). I did get some nice-thoughful gifts too. I didn't clean or anything, but that was mainly because I couldn't be far from the bathroom! The day before (Saturday) was our decoration day (when our family visits the cemetaries to clean and place flowers on our loved ones graves) and we have a small family reunion. I drove my parents and gave my mother her stuff when we got back to my house. Her Mothers Day was spent at her moms and his moms, so she had a long day. I am sure that all of my aunts and uncles were at both grandparents houses - she didn't get back home until after 5pm! |
My Mother's Day was spent making curtains for my Mother In Law. She decided to work that day so I had a chance to sneak over and measure her kitchen windows and make the curtains for her. Dewaine went over and hung some vertical blinds that she had been fighting with. She lost two very close friends this year and her favorite niece a couple of weeks ago so she was very depressed on Mother's Day. She is 73 and we are really starting to worry about her health and state of mind. But she did seem pleased at what we had done...she cried a lot tho. Dewaine took me out to eat steak around 4 p.m. He did not get me a card or anything...said he could not find one good enough for me! Yeah right!!! My son was busy with his wife's family most of the day but did come over around 6 p.m. with a gift, card and my grandson! That was the BEST gift of the day! :p At the beginning of the day, I started having a pity party for myself...I was thinking about my mother that I never got a chance to know since she died when I was 3 and about my two oldest sons from a previous marriage that don't speak to me...but then I started thinking that I had so much to be thankful for...and I snapped right out of it!!! I am sorry some of you did not have a good day...when you feel like that, just turn it around to see the other side and how much you DO have to be thankful for...it will brighten your day when you do that!!! |
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was disappointed. For all of the past years, I've always gotten cards, small gifts, etc. This year, my kids wished me a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY and my husband didn't say crap. Nothing, nada (says a lot, doesn't it?)! It hurt really bad and I'll admit that I cried. To think of all that mom's do for their families and this is the thanks we get? Well, I did finally get my mom's card...the day after! Oh, well, there's always next year. I hope it'll be better than this year! |
We celebrated mothers day with the family on Sat. I was so upset because everyone decided to come here instead of going out to eat like we do every year. Of course I protested and so did my husbands mother who happens to also me my stepmother.,,,,,,,,,, anyway. They guys promised that they would do everything. Including the cooking and cleaning. So they did hold up their part of the deal! Everything went really well and best of all the ladies didn't do a thing but relax by the pool. It wasn't till we all started playing cards,,,,, my brother in law is, how can I say this politely,,,, a poor sport. And got all huffy because he lost. I mean this guy is 28 and acted like a 10 year old child! You can't even laugh at him for acting so foolish because it will push him over even more. So everyone is walking on egg shells because he wants to act like a jerk! So all and all it was a very good day till my brother in law started in and had to ruin it for everyone else! |
