In an unexpected and high risk schedule change, ABC will move ``Grey's Anatomy'' -- its blockbuster Sunday medical drama -- to Thursdays in the fall.

Unless someone blinks between now and September, the shift will trigger a ratings-rattling showndown at 9 p.m. Thursday involving ``Grey's,'' currently the most-watched show on Sunday; CBS's ``CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,'' TV's most popular scripted series; and NBC's heavily touted new comedy-drama, ``Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip.''

Reacting to complaints from devoted fans of ``Lost,'' its complex Wednesday drama, the network also announced today that the series will air without repeats next season. ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson said the show will run seven episodes in the fall and then turn over its time slot to the new ``Day Break'' starring Taye Diggs before returning in February to finish out the season.

The moves are just the most notable parts of an aggressive makeover of the ABC schedule that also includes the addition of 15 new shows and Saturday night college football games, the dismantling of the network's current comedy lineup and the cancellation of high-profile dramas ``Commander In Chief'' and ``Invasion.''

Just two of ABC's current sitcoms made the cut for next season -- ``According to Jim'' and ``George Lopez'' -- and they won't return until mid-season. Given the ax were ``Hope & Faith,'' ``Sons and Daughters,'' ``Freddie'' and ``Rodney.'' In a major surprise, the network will bring back ``What About Brian,'' a drama savaged by the critics and ignored by viewers when it debuted in the spring.

``Primetime,'' the network's Thursday news magazine, will not have a regular spot on the schedule for the first time since 1989 but will be used to ``fill holes'' throughout the season.

Why would they do that?? Grey's is like their biggest hit & they want to move it?? And then putting it up against CSI is just plain dumb. I really hope this doesn't hurt the ratings of Grey's in the fall.

Although at first I wanted Meredith and McDreamy to get back together, now I'm not so sure. He did actually just cheat on his wife, and Meredith is now officially "the other woman".

I disagree that Meredith's life is pathetic and I think Cali is one tough chick. Meredith has obviously made some bad choices, but as she said last week she thought she had found the one she was going to spend her life with and had the rug completely pulled out from under her. I think Cali has a body-type that is much more common in real life. Wouldn't we all like to be thin and beautiful?!

I love all the characters on the show. I hated that Denny died, but I like the way it happened.

I guess I'll have to supplement the next several months re-watching season 1 (at least until season 2 comes out)!!!

I agree it's just plain dumb to go against CSI, though Grey's brings in a younger demographic than CSI, ABC would be way better off having Grey's on almost any other night (well, anything but Friday or Saturday). Time will tell if they made a good decision or not.

FastEddie you are always on top of the news scoop!! Since I don't watch CSI and I generally record Grey's to watch the next day, they can have it on any day!!

That totally sucks that LOST will start in the fall then stop till February.

I'm psyched that What About Brian will be back - very cool show. If you didn't get a chance to watch the 5 episodes that were on, check it out next season.

V where have you been? I can't believe you haven't seen it yet! I am so addicted. Everyone in the house must be quiet and I must have no interruptions when it comes on. I really only watch three shows each week, GA, Desperate Housewives (although I have missed a few episodes this season) and I still watch ER. I think it's a medical thing for me...Sometimes I will catch some Law and Order:SVU, but that's about it.

I'm one of the ones that want Meredith and Derek back together. He will never trust Addison again for her betrayal and a relationship without trust is well, nothing. I think she is trying to hold on to save face, so to speak, and to not admit failure. I think she may have some flirtations with the vet. Don't know yet. I think Christina is seriously struggling with her "tough girl" image she is trying to portray and it might end up hurting her relationship with Burke. She has to admit that she is human just like everyone else. I don't think Burke will be able to operate again, at least not cardiothoracic. There's something interesting I think in the female surgeon that did Denny's heart. I think we might see her again too, Just a gut feeling. Not sure what's going to happen with Izzie...what's his name (I drew a blank) is still so in love with her. They have a line there too. As for Cali, I like her. She is so different from the rest, because she is strong and of a larger build she stands out more. But, as a TRUE representation of a surgical resident (I don't think she is an attending yet is she?) she totally fits the bill. She has the characteristics and strength that a resident would have, and reminds me of the one's I see day to day at work. The others are just to weak to survive in the real world, and I think that's why Cali sticks out like she does. I think she is a loner and is really looking for a "family" to belong to as well. She is trying to fit in, by helping Meredith with her dress and by showing her the xrays. I think there is good in her.

Now, can we make it until the fall? I am already having withdrawals!!!

Wow! I can not believe all the changes being made! I don't know how that will work. I had heard a rumor that CSI wouldn't be on anymore, don't know why? I like it better then the spin offs of it.

I think Izzy will be back on Greys, but don't know. My household thought she was annoying, but it played well into the show. We love everything about the show. It isn't really too over the top, but it is very addictive and they definitely leave you asking why, who, when, what at the end of each show.

We never did like Addison - I guess because she is the one who messed up her marriage and then came back like nothing happened and ready to continue their relationship. She was like "Okay, I know I did something wrong, but come on". Then she freaks out about Meredith (when her and Derrick were split up, living in different cities/states, etc at the time him and Meredith got together the first time). She just seems like the person who thinks it is okay for her to do something (no matter how bad it was), but if someone else does something, well, that's just the end of the world. If that makes sense! :D

I think Derrick didn't know what to do. I guess I would probably feel the same way if that happened to me. He still wanted to give his marriage a try, but that was after he feel in love with someone else (whom he met after his marriage split and he moved away), so that leaves him in a hard place too. In real life, the same thing happens - you either forgive and forgot and move on with your married life, not forget because you were hurt and move on with your own life, forgive but move on anyway because your marriage wasn't waht it should have been, etc.

Meredith and Derrick had already been together at the beginning of the show, so this wasn't their first time with each other. Not that that makes any difference or anything, but just saying that they had been "together" before this weeks show. I think they really love each other, but don't know what to do about it (mainly because Addison is there each day). They both have issues - big time. So, it is hard to say what would be right to have happen to them or what will happen in the next season. I do like Finn (vet) too! (not bad looking, super nice, probably just what Meredith needs - maybe not right now, but in the future).

Heck, me too!!!!!!! Thats alot for one person to go thru, and don't forget, she was almost blown up too. Remember the bomb scare and she witnessed the bomb going off right after she handed it off. So if I were here....life is way too short, and she needs to go where her heart is following her. I like her with McDreamy! He needs to fess up to Addison, but I think she knows its coming to be honest. A woman always knows. We have the best intuition! She even said she can't compete.

As far as Cali...I like her too. I don't know why. Yes she and George look awkward togehter, but that is what makes them different and fun to watch!!!! And I too loved the look she gave McDreammy, but she did help Mere get her dress back on. I think she wants to fit in!

I was disappointed with the Burke/Christina story line. She is stronger than wha they portreyed her to be and I think they should have focussed on them a bit more. I was bummed about that!

I agree! I think the same about Addison and I too feel that her and the vet will have something going on next season (maybe a real attraction, out of spite or something).

I thought at first Alex? (Izzy's old boyfriend) would have a thing with the heart surgeon, but I don't know. There was something about her that they worked into the show that left us all guessing. I wonder if Alex brought her back to Grey's to do Denny's heart surgery because she was one of the best and really dedicated to her work or something - maybe to help Izzy out or something? I bet him and Izzy get back together, especially after he talked with her about Denny.

Maybe the writers did that because she will be the one leaving next season? And with the possibility that Burke may not be able to operate again, maybe they are going to write both of them out some how? Who knows!?

Hmmmm...I was thinking that too.....I would be very bummed out. I really like them together! They have a different kind of relationship....But I guess anything is possible!

I thought she brought a lot to the show - she was the outspoken, tough one - but when her and Burke moved in together, she was finally becoming a little "softer" around him at home. I like him too! I guess we will have to wait and see how it plays out in the fall! :(

I think with Christina and Burke, she had to come to terms with him being vunerable. Thats not something she's used to or comfortable with. If you notice, in the last scene of the show she went to him and grabbed his hand. I think that means that she's ready to try. As far as Cali and George, I LOVE HER!!! She's the only one on the show who loves George AS IS!!! She just wants him to stand up for her and their relationship. I don't think there's a woman out there, when faced with the kind of cattiness those girls (especially Izzy) have been giving her, who wouldn't be angry and wanting their man to stand up for them. I hope she stays. I think she gives him more confidence.

I was watching the Jimmy Kimmel show & he had Katherine Hiegl (Izzy) on there & I'm pretty sure she'll be back next season. He asked her how the show would play out after that & she was like guess you'll have to wait & see what happens!:p Yay! I didn't want her to leave. :D

bummer- I was out of town and didn't know it was the season finale on Monday and DVR didn't record it so I didn't get to see it!!!!!!

Just a little side note. When Ellen Pompeo was being interviewed, she said somebody is "leaving the intern program." Izzy said she was not cut out to be a surgeon. There are all kinds of doctors.:)

I only started watching Grey’s mid-season – I know, where the heck was I?
That season finale was amazing. I couldn't stop crying - with Denny dying, putting the doggy down, the Meredith/Finn/McDreamy triangle… geez. Hope they do reruns this summer so I can get caught up on all the backstories.

Season 1 is out on dvd so you can catch up on that!:) I bought it & love it!

I cried my eyes out!!! first when Denny asked her to marry him!!! and then when he died! OMG! I wanted to marry Denny!!!! I am soooo in love with Denny, its not even funny!!! He is so my favorite!

I think that McDreamy is not even all that cute, he looks like that guy who did way too much blow before his shift, its the idea of him that is really attractive! But thats all there is... the idea of a great romance! In reality its a complicated mess! She needs to RUN! The vet was a good choice but way to Neat and obvious a choice! Not enough drama for our wounded little star! She had to go and play with fire again.... More McSex! No self control! She is all caught up in the smoke and the warmth of it... she'll get burned if she is not careful.... And just when she was starting to look like a stand up person... just when she was forming a real relationship with Addison... I was really Impressed for a second... Bummer....

Cali... What a gal! George is her McDreamy! Minus the wife, risky sex in exam rooms, drunk one night stands, and deceit.... She thinks he hung the moon! Cali looks at George like George looks at Meridith.... Wow! She really digs him! And it was just the boost he needed! But he is not feeling quite as strongly for her... but he wants to!!!! And in time... I think he might. George is the best man on that show!! second only to Denny, but thats just my lust talking! George is the guy I want my daughter to mary! My sister to date! My friend to go out with!!! He's the guy you want to clone for everyone, cause he's such a good guy! And he is very cute in a smart dorky kind of way! I like him! And Cali.... ok, a bit Bulish... But who cares?? She's real! And that thing she does with the bones! She needs that upper body strength! lol

Whatever with the dog... yeah yeah sad... she had the dog for what a month??? It was only sad for her really because it was her last tie to McDreamy...
