Oh, poor thing! I bet he wasn't out of the water long. Maybe he just got excited to hear you come home! I'm not sure how long they can live out of water...... I have read that you shouldn't have the water level real close to the edge of the bowl because they will jump out so be aware..... And another thing.... they say fish have no memory whatsoever but I really think Snoopy liked me. He didn't care for my husband but he would always come to "talk" to me when I looked in on him! |
My kids won lots of gold fish at my sons baseball opening day about 7 years ago. Most of them died the very next day. Some lasted a longer. But the one that did survive was a part of the family up to last year. Fishie was so cool. He loved me and my daughter. This fish got so excited when it would see us. Gold fish don't have much of a brain so I've heard, but it sure knew who we were. One day I noticed that he was acting funny. He was swimming around on his side. and then just stop and lay there looking dead. I go up to it and it would see me and get excited and and start swimming like everything was ok. A few days after that, it jumped out of it's bowl. I put him back in and he jumped out again and cut some mesh and with a rubber band I put it on top so that it couldn't do it again. 2 days after that he was gone. I know it was just a fish but it was part of the family! |
