Shew!!! Glad I finally figured out it was an old post. I was a little concerned about V when she mentioned her husband being there and making fun of her. :D |

Can anyone tell I'm so NOT living in the city anymore ? |
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - Deb-ee ....Deb-eeeeeeeeeeeeeee....after I posted above -- I went and read the whole thread and was laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes Thanks Bchgirl - I take back the smack :D - this was a funny thread and brought back such good memories ... |
OMG I LOVE this thread! I've never read it before. This is so funny-V, you have such a kind heart, and you were only trying to help this "Rare Pigeon" :) (I wouldn't have known what kind of bird it was either-he's so pretty up close!) I think one of my favorite parts is when you ask if Homing Pigeons have little mapquests...well, the very technologically advanced ones have tiny GPS's strapped to their other leg, and will tell them directions on their way. Oh, and there's a small button under their right wing they can push if they get lost-kind of like OnStar ;) |

I re-read it yesterday and thought....oh my...look at all these names you don't see here any more. Btw, I was serious when I told you...when I see a pigeon. I think of you. LOL |

and ya Deb - I noticed lots of names I miss too |
I really enjoyed that thread. Honestly, if I saw that bird up close, I would have thought it was similar to a pigeon but too fancy to ever be one! |

It was cold and rainy and he was injured, so I took him home to nurse him if I could and contact his owners if I could find them. I had a pharmacist friend who raised racing pigeons and called him to help me find the owner by the band number and sure enough, I found the owners in another town....I think they had let the pigeons off in Reno or something like that...not sure where they were supposed to be racing to, unless it was home which for them, was Petaluma. I kept him in a cage in my bedroom, kept him warm, dressed his wounds and he got well after a couple of weeks. I put him in my dove cage outside, but he was much larger than my doves and he pecked at them, so I had to separate them and get his owners to come get him and take him home, LOL. Hopefully, he lived a long and healthy life after that. I think they might live forever; I've got a dove that's at least 12 yrs old, is semi-psychotic and I swear, he's gonna outlive me! |
Still lovin' it, reading it all for a second time today!!! |
omg, this thread has me cracking up! I hope she can catch the bird! Then she needs to take a picture of herself with it! |
this was too funny! we need more threads like this! |
