So bummed today...
 
Some of you know about my upcoming move, well, i just need to vent a little bit here. DH starts his new job in NC on June 26. He goes regardless of whether or not I'm ready to go. Well, we went to NC in April and put a contract on a house that we are absolutely in LOVE with! Problem is that it's a contingent contract, contingent on the sale of our home here.. I thought that by now we would have had a contract on our house here. We have it under priced and not to sound snobby or anything, it's the bigget on the block and the nicest. Yard and all.. Well, still nothing. We go back to NC on Saturday to have a home inspection done on the house up there and I'm soooooo scared that we're going to loose the home in NC if we can't get a contract on the house here.. I know that there is nothing you all can do, but I just wanted to vent... Unless, you want to come a buy my house... :D

Would you not qualify for the loan on the new house if this one isn't sold? If you qualify....when you DO sell this house....you can take the proceeds then and apply it toward the new mortage. When we bought THIS house...we still had the other....

Also any chance hubby's new company who wants him to move....would make the payments until the house here sells? That's what friend of ours company did when he transferred with them?

Hope you don't mind me asking....but I take it...the custody battle is over?

It's not over yet, but should be in a couple of weeks. Of course it's not etched in stone yet, but the Judge pretty much told my ex that the law favors me to move so long as I am willing to give him more summer visitation and winter and things like that, which I am. I also today him that if he was doing any kind of long weekend things he could totally have him those times too.. I just really hate it here and it's not a good environment to raise kids in anymore.

About the houses, I could probably qualify for both, but making the payments would be HELL.. I think I might just ask hubby if the company would pay the mortgage until we get it sold. Otherwise, they are renting him a place there so what's the difference?? Good idea Deb! Thanks ! I love you guys!

Hmmm, I dont know. My inlaws just closed on a new home last friday and then still own the other home! I wonder why you cant do the same! Maybe its different from state to state! Good luck!

Yeah, I didn't tell ya that making BOTH payments was a PIA :rolleyes: But we did it. I think we did it for 3 months....the first house sold in maybe a month and a half, then had to wait for the closing. If his company is willing to rent something....then they may very well agree.

I'm glad everything worked out with your son. I understood WHY you were moving.

PS I do not envy you moving....moving households is worse than making TWO payments....ugh :)

Sometimes you need the money from the first to buy the next. Or the mortage company says you don't make enough money to afford two payments. They really don't care how many you own.

Yes, moving household especially two states away! It's going to be great though! I've already got a great friend there. Robbie (Yorkiemom1970) has taken me in.. LOL I actually can't wait to be there!!

I can't comment on the house situation as we are still renting. In Boston we can't find a 2 bedroom 1 bath for less than 500,000!!! But I wanted to let you know how lucky you are in your custody. I got divorced 2 years ago and my ex has our daughter every friday and every weekend. I was, and still am, a stay at home mom. I had to fight for 2 years and was lucky to get to move 1 hour away! We get no child support and it is a constant battle. I know this wasn't about custody, but you are just really lucky that you got to move out of state. Congrats!!! I wish you luck with your move and your new house, I hope you get the one you have your heart set on!!! Best wishes!

Hey try getting a little statue of St Joseph and bury it upside down in your yard and your housw will sell. It's worked for many people!

Yay! Instant yorkie talk friends. Ok, it's not really the move that I don't envy...it's unpacking. ;)

Thought of something....how much rent is his company willing to pay and how close is it to your payment? You don't really have to tell me but at least you know how much his company was willing to spend. There's your argument....or even if you have to kick in extra to meet the payment....at least some of it wouldn't have to come out of your pocket.

A guy I work with had a house for sale forever, then he heard of that and tried it and it sold within that week, no joke. Good Luck.

We haven't really asked them a dollar figure yet. When it gets closer to his start date or at least in the beginning of June if the house doesn't have a contract yet we'll let them know that we want to possibly have them put the money toward our mortgage..

HELL, I'd even be willing to give them some back out of the equity.. I just want to get out of here.. LOL

I'd think they would know how much a rental unit would cost and if they just intended to put him in a long term residence inn thingy...that's more than renting a regular apartment.

The equity idea is a good one to offer....

Never buried St. Joseph, but one time when I was looking for another lost item....my Catholic girlfriend told me...oh, you pray to St. Anthony. St. Anthony is the patron saint of lost causes....any way....you just say.
Tony, Tony (apparently she was pretty tight w/ him...calls him a nickname)....look around, something's lost it must be found. Guess he likes us Baptists too....cause that works every time. No joke. Recently step mom misplaced her rings...she said she'd be looking for days....gave her the prayer...presto, bingo...Tony at your service. :)

Edited to add...I did not pray to St. Anthony to find our "lost" hamster and I am not doing it NOW....cause I definitely don't wanna FIND him NOW.

Bury St Joseph
 
A friend of mine did this in Missouri...and her house sold quickly after being on the market for a while before she heard to do this.

Funny thing is...after she sold the house and moved a friend asked her did you dig up the statue? nope..they tell her you have to dig it up or you won't have good luck anymore (or something like that)...so one night she is stopping by picking up mail that had been delivered to old house, the new owner called and told her they would be gone, but would leave the mail in the mailbox for her....well she decided that was her perfect opportunity to dig up St Joseph...she parks her car so the lights are shining in the flower bed and is on her knees digging in the dark trying to find it, when the lights all come on and the new owners open the door and ask if they could help her with something :eek: She was so embarrassed, she just said No thank you...and left :D

OMG, that is hysterical.. I would have died.. Funny thing is I was just thinking, "Man, if this works I'm digging this baby up and taking him with me.." Guess I will be doing that for sure!!

Bad luck theory proven. ;) Wonder if that couple went out and dug to see what was in there....I'm sure they thinking...something good must be buried here :D

I bet they did! Friend said it was like a scene out of Desperate Housewives! Her 14 yr old son was in the car...he had told her I don't think this is a good idea...and was hiding on the floor of the car while she was digging!

Oh Lord...you know that kid was embarassed BEFORE she got caught....he flat out died when the lights came on!!
