Need prayers tonight 1 Attachment(s) I have a cocker spaniel that was due to have pups in 3wks that miscarried yesterday. Tonight she started having seizures and at one point she had no heart beat and had stopped breathing. I am very worried about her right now. I have been calling every vet in the phone book and all the emergancy numbers but have yet to get a real person. Her name is Dutchess and she needs prayers to get through this. Thanks - Stacie I am attaching a picture of her also. |

Dutchess is in Our Thoughts and Prayers! |
Bless her heart. Please keep us updated.:hands: |
I'll pray for her. I'm so sorry about her losing the puppies and will pray for her to recover from whatever it is that is ailing her. Poor baby...she's beautiful! |
There must be more to this story... ...in any case, I hope you find an emergency clinic soon! Do you know your vet's name? Can you look him up in the phone book and bother him at home? How would he take that do you think? ANYTHING is worth trying at this point! Good Luck and Best Wishes from my furry family to yours! |
MOST VETS HAVE EMERGENCY NUMBERS ON THEIR Answering recordings !! Listen to the recordings and keep trying !!..... I will be praying for her but to tell you the truth - anyone with a dog ready to have puppies should ALWAYS have all emergency numbers close by or know the locations for these kinds of emergencies. Sometimes you just don't have time to make calls. When I first got Chanel 4 years ago - the first thing I did was learn where ALL the locations were for vet care...buth regular hours and emergency care for weekends and nights. I hope you didn't lose her - she is just beautiful ...I have a cocker spaniel too and they are the sweetest dogs....Poor girl...I hope this has a happy ending - it sure doesn't sound good at all |
Oh my!! Duchess, pretty girl, I sure hope you are OK. Kitty, please let us know how she is doing... I am very worried.:( |
I have all the emergancy # written down. My vet went out of town and the vet that takes his patients when he is gone is not answering his emergancy #. There is no voice mail or answering machine for me to leave a message on. I don't have emergancy vet hospitals in my area so I have to rely on a vet answering the phone. I have left several messages on the ones that do have answering machines. So far I still haven't got a hold of the vet but Dutchess is doing a little better. I gave her some nutri cal to help give her a little more energy. My vet should be back in office today so as soon as he opens I will be waiting on his door step. Thanks for all of the prayers you've all sent Dutchess. I really truely beleive that that is what kept her here with us last night. She is going to be better. I feel it in my heart.:aimeeyork |
AWESOME ! I would have freaked if any of mine had their heart stop beating....I would def take her in for a full checkup and all the best to you ! Maybe there IS an emergency clinic your vet may know about ? I'd let your regular vet know his 'on call' vet didn't answer :( and see if anyone has emergency pagers ? |
Kitty...I'd love if you came and posted how she does at the vet - but it sounds like you did a great job keeping her going last night and I really do apologise if I came on a bit strong in my post - I always picture my OWN self in situations ....and also try to post something helpful for others....and having emergency numbers is super important especially if you have a mommy to be. But - It sounded like you just had a run of bad luck not getting ahold of anyone - I'd have been in a panic - you did GOOD girl :) I really am glad she's better and GOOD LUCK. |
I sure hope everything went ok with her, you and your family have my prayers! |
I wish I had been on to see this. There is an emergency vet that is always open on Memorial Road in OKC near Edmond. There is also one on the S Side of OKC...as well as one in Norman... |
I am back from the vet. Dutchess had to stay at the vet. She is very anemic and has loss alot of blood. The vet is going to do a blood transfusion today. She is in great spirits but because of the severity of the anemia she can't even go outside to play. She has to stay in her crate until she is past this. I am so glad I have a great vet. She will recover but it will take time. Oh, she also still has one pup she didn't abort. It still has a heart beat but we will have to make a decision on wether or not to keep it. I think what would be best for Dutchess is to go ahead and abort this last pup. The vet is going to call me in a little bit and give me an update on her. Thanks for all the prayers |
Oh no:( ...But she's in the best place right now I hope all goes well and she gets better fast. That had to be really hard to see....poor little mommy and poor BIG mommy. GOOD LUCK with her... |
Please Keep Us Posted! |
I am glad Dutchess is doing better. Prayers going her way. |
Update Dutchess got the blood transfusion yesterday. She did great through all of it. She had to stay at the vet last night. We have decided to abort the puppy so the vet has given her some meds to help with that. We may end up spaying her. Which is fine. We love her no matter what and she will have a wonderful home here with us. This has been a very stressful time. This would have been her second litter and she did fine with her first litter 2yrs ago. She and the male were both tested for burseliosis (sp?) and had eyes and hips tested. Both are healthy dogs so this was a big shock to us. Any way I just wanted to let you all know she is doing better. THANKYOU for all the prayers.-Stacie |
Update please! We are really hoping that Duchess is still doing better. Please give us an update on her if you are able...she is in our thoughts!! :big_hug: |
You should take a quick set of vitals now so you know what is normal for her. You should also take a look at how to do Animal CPR in case you need it, which I hope you don't. :( |
Update Dutchess is doing great. She is not happy with the doctors orders of restricted activity. She goes back to the vet on the 15th for a recheck. I know her normal vitals and I also know how to do cpr on a dog. I have been through some schooling on vet classes. I just didn't finish because I didn't feel that was the job for me. (I can't take the loss of pets.) I was also taught how to do cpr on a dog by a vet about 7yrs ago. He taught me one day when it came up at a vet appointment. Since then I took the vet courses. Thanks for everyone's concern. |
