Puppy Mill Dogs Auctioned It's nice to read some GOOD news once in a while! I'm glad some of those poor dogs were bought by the Humane Society Members -- they finally have a real chance to live a happy and healthy life. The puppys win over the millers, YAY!! Puppy Mill Dogs Auctioned http://www.wsbtv.com/news/9101395/de...5243&qs=1;bp=t CARTERSVILLE -- After failing to halt a Bartow County puppy auction, animal rescue activists showed up at the event Saturday with thousands of dollars, and angered many in the crowd by outbidding them. "These animals have lived in deplorable conditions for all their lives, being bred over and over and over again," said Eden Cherry of Southern Hope Humane Society. "We want to make sure that doesn't happen again." Auctioneers sold 206 small-breed dogs that were taken from a puppy mill in Cartersville after the owner died. One sold for $855. Humane society members said they bid on dogs if they feared they would wind up in other puppy mills. One member told WSB-TV they brought $40,000 to the auction. Other bidders objected, with one woman shouting, "Why are you outbidding him? How rude!" "They feel like they're going from one cage to another, but that's not what we do," Cherry said. "We vet them and then we make sure they get wonderful homes. They're going to be somebody's housepet and not be bred again." |

It just makes you sick to see these things but it really is incredible that organizations like the Humane Society is stepping into these situations. Hopefully this continues to bring awareness to the country. Thanks for posting this  |
Yea! They will finally get a great home, like they should have had all along, the only downside is the Puppy Millers now have $40,000.00 to expand and continue the horror they began. |

My hats off to any protester who took the time to try and pound them into the ground. I don't know if I could personally go to an auction - I'd probably get thrown in jail....but if I had the chance and one was close - I think I WOULD try to help. If anything - just to go shoot them dirty looks |
A judge ordered this auction, it was not held by puppy millers. The Humane Society brought the $40,000 to buy dogs, it does not say how much they spent. See the thread below that I posted on Friday and it will explain. It is a very sad story, and I hope the furbabies are all in good homes now. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40006 |
