My new neighbors dog just tried to bite me! GREAT!!! I have heard new people moving in right next door all day so finally since Simon and Hallie have been barking at all the noise all day I decided to go over and introduce myself and let them know about Simon and Hallie. I knock on the door and a young girl answers the door well out comes her BIG (he stood up to my waist) dog and snapped at me! She said they were "working on training him not to bite"!?!?!?!?!??! I just needed to vent, now I have to be careful about taking the monkeys outside. ugh, we had so much fun just hanging out front on nice days :( |
Awww Kim, Hopefully he will get better and Simon and Hallie can continue to go outside and have fun! |
We dont have any mean dogs here. Ahem. I think I saw an apt for rent too somewhere. :p No, but you should have slapped that chick. Were you nice about it? |
This just gets better and better. Simon started going crazy at the back window so I look out and sure enough there's Mr. Mean Dog running loose out back! ugh |

Oh Kimberly, that sucks big time. Now you have to have neighbor confrontations. It's not safe for your kids outdoors now with that monster running loose. I am sure there is a leash law in your town, and it's unfortunate but you make have to insist it be enforced for your safety and that of your furbabes. Sorry for your troubles, sweetie... :( |

Do you live in an apartment complex? or a development with a homeowners asso?? I just moved out of a development of town houses and let me tell you... The management would have NEVER stood for that!! My neighbor did not pick up after their dog.... They were fined! And when the fine did not drive the point home the management sent them a notice... explaining that their next violation would result in termination of theirs pets lease. so if they were caught leaving their dogs waste on the property again... the dog had to go.. or they could go with the dog! And they were serious! We had alot of dog owners in that complex!! We played by the rules!! If a dog snapped at someone, it would be an instant removal from the property! You were made aware of the terms when you moved in! They made me feel very safe.. I never worried about my daughter walking around with all of those dogs out there... I know they were good dogs! I would run! To your landlord!!! I would have that dog removed right away!!! I'm sure they are not aware that they let a LARGE UNPREDICTABLE DOG move in to that unit!!! And the owner admits that they are "training it not to bite!" That to me says that IT BITES NOW!!!! BIG RED FLAG!!!! I would not wait until someone gets hurt..... What if he had bitten you??? Or one of your Babies??? I can't even think about it! |
If you let the dogs get used to each other a little at a time they might become friends. We have a huge airdale and my neighbors have a lab mix and an Irish Wolfhound. I kept Reuger inside the fence when he was really small, which was quite hard to do, and the other dogs hung around. Now Reuger goes outside of the fence and I don't worry about the other dogs being rough on him. They're friends now. It's really pretty funny to watch because they are all so much taller than Reuger. He kinda' dances around underneath of them trying to play. He only comes up a little past their kneecaps. It's quite a sight!!! |
They're working on it? They need to work a little harder! You're okay, right? |
Hmm.... sorry, but i wouldnt trust the dog. Make sure you voice your opinion to those new neighbours NOW instead of waiting/hoping the dog will improve his behaviour! If the dog shows a "biting habit" than what on earth is he doing running around loose  :thumbdown Some dog owners need to be slapped down to reality!! Hope all works out for you, please keep us updated. :) |
Wow I would be real careful. it A disaster can happen in a second! I would seriosly try and talk to the new people and voice your concern because of the size of you babies. Maybe they will be decent about it. |
oh wow. A dobie ? I think they're great dogs but around little yorkies I have other opinions. That's really scary - he could have been doing a puppy thing but then again - puppies don't snap. Did he break skin ? Shoot - I know how you feel having something like that next door - now you have to be on the watch all the time. Too bad for you and good luck - maybe he'll be indoors or kept somewhere that he can't get to your guys when they're out ? That sucks. We just had new neighbors move in next door after 8 months of no one. The girls act insane now cause they aren't used to seeing anyone in that yard. |
So glad your OK!!!! It might have been the stress of a move for him, but lets hope he gets some training soon if not! Keep safe!!!! :2hearts2: :2hearts2: :2hearts2: :2hearts2: |
Darn! I'm so sorry to hear about your new neighbors and their doberman. I agree with Villette...they're nice dogs but I wouldn't trust them around yorkies. If he's a snappy dog, you not only fear for your yorkies, but also yourself! If only it were a "here today, gone tomorrow" deal, but it's something you're going to have to put up with for who knows how long. Be careful...I hope they learn to control that dog! |
