Teacher Certification anyone? I am thinking about getting certified to be a teacher -- you know, just in case I kind find anything to do w/ my degree ;) Anyone ever take the certification tests for elementary/middle school? It's like a basic skills test I guess. How difficult can it be? I am thinking I will have no problems passing it, but who knows? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? |
It depends on your educational background. Here in Florida there are two parts to the test. Professional-which deals with a lot of different theories and practices, Subject Area-concentrates on a particular area(mine is Elem Ed). I hope this helps. |
I think it depends on the state where you live. In the fall of 2000, PA changed the tests and it seems as if they made them more difficult. They also required MORE tests (so they could get more money, of course). When I took them in Spring of 2000 before the changes took place, I thought that they were a piece of cake compared to the exam I had to take to become an SLP. I've heard from people who have taken them within the past few years that there were some tests that were difficult to pass. |
I had a lot of friends who went through lengthy processes to get certified. They had to spend semesters observing then doing a practicum. I'm not sure you can just take the exam without any background in child development, education, or psych. But who am I? I teach cranky college kids who don't want to be there :) Let me know what you find out! |
Well, I found out that you can take the exam if you have a bachelor's degree & if you have a liberal arts background, the tests are less difficult. The test is April 10th in IL. I don't think I can take it then since I have no idea what is even on it. |
