Any experience with mystery shopping?? Has anyone ever been a mystery shopper? I've been considering it, to make some extra money on the side. I just don't know what is legit and what is a scam. Anyone have any experience with this who is willing to help guide me? :p |
Mystery shopping to me is shopping with my husband having no idea. It's a mystery to him! :idontknow He'll ask me, what did you buy now? I tell him "Nothing, I got that along time ago" hehehehe I know this is no help to you but I'd though I share my views on mystery shopping. LOL |
haha that's all of our stories..I always buy Coco stuff and just say it was from a while back :D |
My girlfriend did it for 1 store coldwater Creek. She had to go 4 times and spend 100.00 each time, that she got from them, but she had to take note of a lot of things. She enjoyed it but always ended up spending more than the 100.00. Of course she has a spending problem BAD! |
Mystery shopping is great!!! My friend is a shopper. I went with her one day, and she had to time how long it took for someone to ask if we needed help. Then we had to go to lunch, and see just how much time everything took. I felt so sneaky. It was fun, she wanted me to do it with her, but I can't leave Princess home that long. She's with me 24/7, and I love it. I know you have to make reports, and you get to keep a lot of the stuff you buy. I'd love to be a Mystery Shopper at Macys, LOL, I'm there so much, I'm sure they would catch on. Now if they ever let you bring your furbaby with you, hmmmmm I'd think about it, but then again I'd miss out on a lot of fun here. So I'd have to think really hard. :D :D :D :D But if you have the time, I'd say check it out, it's fun, but sneaky :p :p :p :p |
I've been wanting to do this too, is it your money you are spending, or theirs? :D i'd love for it to be theirs since i have none! :p |

i have applied to be a mystery shopper but have not had the time to do it. most of the companies make you take a test and once completed, you could go. most was fast food resturants and you would have to go twice a day. they would make you pay with your own money and at the end of the month you would send in a receipt. you could not spend more that 7$$ per visit. in my area it doesnt appear worth while b/c everything is w fast foods and not the good things like HOTEL stays or Clothing stores. if i find out anything differnt, i will let you know. |
I will continue researching. The only bad thing is that I don't eat fast food so that would be one area I wouldn't visit but I wonder if some let you choose. Anyone know? |
I've thought about it too. Occasionally I hear ads that they are looking for shoppers in our area. But I don't think I'd have the time. It might be fun to try though. |

There is not enough money in the world to pay me for that job. I am probably the only person here who just hates shopping. I avoid it as long as possible and will actually buy multiples of the same thing if I find what I like to avoid having to go out a find new whatever when the first whatever wears out. Is there a 12 step program for this? |
Talk to marykay..she does that.. |
Wait..other will PAY you to shop for THEM? I never got this memo! |
I've been doing mystery shopping for about 2 years. I never paid for one of those sites, because I heard that everything that was on there, you could find on your own. If you type mystery shopping into yahoo search you will get a ton of companies. You sometimes have to write an essay for them to show that you have grammar skills. Some of my favorites are www.mysteryshops.com, www.sassieshop.com/2kern, and www.sassieshop.com/2bareusa. But I am signed up with a ton of different places. Also, make a new email address to use for them because you get TONS of email reminders and info about shops (rarely is it spam, but still alot). Typically you make around $7 plus reimbursement and you can usually do a few a month depending on your area, so you are not going to make a lot of money, but its nice to go out to dinner on someone else's $. Some are very easy and some are very complicated. You can usually pay by CC or cash. You get paid my paypal, check, or direct deposit, depending on the company. Oh ya, and you always get to request the ones that you want, not randomly assigned. Hopefully this helps get you started! Sarah |
