How many of you have a Maltese? Have a question.. I have a little Maltese. She has short hair since she's a puppy but I've noticed it takes like 2 times longer to dry her hair! Also she doesnt have a problem with knots on the rest of her body except on each butt cheek lol. What do you use to untangle these ! I had to put conditioner and work it in on the knot and used one of those metal combs with rounded tips so they don't scratch but it still hurts her when I pull gently. It took me like 45 minutes to get knots off each "cheek" and my hubby was holding her. I'm wondering what works best because I am really determined to have her grow her hair like the standard Maltese. Genie |
I have a maltese too. I have also noticed it takes twice as long to dry her coat than my yorkies coat. I use the detangling spray that I use on my daughters hair for mats. I use the cheap stuff from WalMart. :animal-pa They have a maltese forum. You might post this question there. It is maltesetalk.com :animal36 |
Malts Maltese hair is very different then Yorkie hair..it is not silk. A proper Maltese looks perfect with a more cottony coat..They seem to have a double coat and that take longer to dry.. |
Genie...you need to try the Brushes from CC Systems - the dematting is so gentle you would never scratch her little booty with it. Can you give me a Lola Fix and post a few more pictures of that little doll ? How is Cookie feeling these days ? |
Hey, I have a Maltese too, and I found this Malteseonly web site, and they have Maltese Secret Shampoo, it is soooo awesome. It makes her so white, and so soft, and NOOO knots or matts. I use the Maltese Secret Shampoo on my Yorkies too, and it is the best shampoo I ever used. Check out the web site, there is a lot of info on there, and after you do, click on the forum link, they have a forum there that is pretty cool, but no where near as good or as big as this one. |
Hey! 1 Attachment(s) I have a maltese as well...she's 4 months old and the only part that gets tangled is both her little butt cheeks! Lol, I use a conditioner when I give her a bath dry her and then use a slicker brush to comb her out...it's really thin pin needle bristles, comb through matts easier and is not as painful as a regular brush...I've found that using the conditioner makes her soft and helps me to get these matts out! |
I have a Maltese too. I keep his hair in a short puppy cut. I never have a problem with matts but I do notice that his hair takes longer to dry when compared to my Yorkie's hair. I usually blow dry him for about 5 minutes to get rid of the initial dampness. Then I let him air dry the rest of the way. His coat always dries so nice, softy and fluffy -- like a little white powder puff. |
