It's that time of year again.... have y'all been good boys and girls and started working on your taxes? hahaha. i just finished mine this weekend and oye... what a chore, but what a relief off our backs! need the returns to pay for property taxes! |
I'm one of those weird geeks that just loves to do taxes. We live on a pension so we never get a refund, but I enjoy the challenge. Having a degree in accounting helps. I used to do them by hand but now I use Turbo Tax. |
Done, received, spent. :( |
We get it over with right off the bat. Didn't do too bad this year. filed, got got the money, spent the money! We are so bad. |

Done, owe, UNSENT ;) |
I do mine early. I never get a refund, never owe. If I hit around $100 over or under I'm happy. I hate the thought of the gov using my money all year. My sister gets like $5000 back every year and she is soooo excited. I always say "Hello, it's your money to begin with." I'm just a weirdo that way! |

taxes In the past before Bill retired he would tell me I could have half of the tax return, I usually got $1500..this year he came home from the account and said.."You can have it all..I got $21...! |
OH MY, April 15 is the day we stay away from my husband. He turns into a bear!!!! I kid you not, it's the worst day around here. He get's that pen in his hand, and it's all over. I can never understand why we owe so much, we pay every month, but on tax day they all ways put the screws to us. It's not a fun day at all. :( :( :( :( Just once, I'd like them to pay us, but I don't think it will ever happen. |

Now you know why I owe.... ;) If I could get it to work out to zero on either side...I'd be happy :p |
i normally don't like getting too much money back during tax time either. the thought of the government hanging on to all that money, interest-free bugs. but ever since we bought property, it's been a relief to get enough money back and pay for the april property tax. incentive to finish taxes early too! we actually got a little more back this year...maybe we can finally take that honeymoon we always wanted ... 2.5 years overdue... |
I had mine done twice because I couldn't believe we owed as much as we do. The second guy saved me 400.00 but charged me 200.00. We use t get a couple thousand back each year, but last year I was laid off given a severence and started collecting my pension. My compnay didn't take nearly enough taxes out and we owed 8800.00. I was in shock and couldn't even finish the paperwork at H & r Block! As luck would have it my parents sold their house a week later to move up by me to a senior apartment and gave each of us 4 kids 10,000.00. I don't know what I would have done without that. I was so not expecting that! |
That a curse word around here. I am an accountant, I really need to get off YT and finish the stack on my desk before it topples over   NAHH more fun here. |
