Hi all, I'm moving in two weeks and am looking for a washer and dryer. I looked on Craigslist but does anyone else have any other suggestions of where I can get a washer and dryer for less than $300? Any other websites that you can direct me to? Thanks! :D

You could check those appliance resale shops. When hubby and I got married, we bought a washer/dryer pair for $300. Had to replace the washer at 5 years and still have the dryer and it still works GREAT!

Do you have a place around there like a Dent and Ding! Its a place where they have appliances that got dented in the delivery and they are discounted! They are brand new but just with dents in them they are usually really reasonable!

You might also check with Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, etc. Sometimes they get new merchandise in that's been damaged in transit and they will sell it for big discount (usually)....if you luck up on one, find the manager and ask:) Best of luck to you in your search.

Also, you can see if there's any outlet places, or places that sell refurbished merchandise like that. I know one friend has had good luck getting stuff from a Sears outlet, which sells used or demo equipment. You can also try online classifieds of the city you are moving to. Seattle has a publication called "The Little Nickel" and it's full of classifieds for used stuff. Go to a grocery store in your area, there may be similar free classifieds papers near the entrance. :)

how about garage sales , I bought some used ones...people that fix washers & dryers usually sell them too and they offer guarantees on them.. I bought a set off of the guy that fixes my mom's washer & dryer for $150 for both... I think that's a steal of a deal!!! .. good luck, by the way where r u moving too?

Just my personal preference, but I'm a landlord and I've bought used applainces, and I wouldn't waste my money on them. There is a reason why someone got rid of them. My advice is to shop around for the least expensive, most plain jane one you can find and buy new. Scratch and dent are usually good bargains.

i suggest local papers for used appliances. my dad just got a new washer/dryer floor models from lowes for more than half off. he just asked if the floor models were for sale. :)

I've had my appliances for over 3 years and so far so good... people get rid of stuff because they upgrade, sometimes their family becomes bigger and they needed a bigger capacity washer & dryer or they switch to stainless steel..... buying scratch & dent you are also taking a bargain on not working properly .... do you have a Conn's Appliance Store? they are having a special...
