Need Some Advice!!! At the beginning of the year, one of the fence panels for our yard was blown down. This was due to a combination of high winds and dirt that was dumped against the fence from when the neighbor put in a pond. My Bichon was playing in the yard, and I admit I wasn't supervising as the yard is completely fenced in (except for that part between the neighbor's) and she's well-trained so she wouldn't leave the yard anyway. Well one minute she was out there playing, and the next, she was gone. My father and I called and called for her, and she never appeared. (She comes when called.) So we talked to the neighbor and his response was that he had just got home and he had left the gate to his yard open so she could've ran out that way. His manner was a little odd so we suspected that he may have taken our dog. But of course, it couldn't be proven... and the police pretty much brushed it off as a civil dispute, telling me I needed a lawyer instead. Seeing as we had no proof, there was really nothing we thought we could do. But just today when my father was near the fence because we're planning on finally getting it fixed... he heard barking coming from the neighbor's house. Barking that sounded much like my Bichon. My Bichon has a very distinct bark, as she mostly squeaks rather than barking normally. All I want to do is confirm whether they've taken my dog... but I'm not sure how to go about it. If the dog in their house isn't my Bichon, then I guess nothing I can do. But if it IS my Bichon, I want her back. Anyone have any ideas? By the way, I'm sorry this is so long. |
I'm so sorry and that is so strange. Do you really tjhink your neighbor is capabel of doing that? Have you seen a dog over there before? If not I believe I would call the police again and tell them and have them check on it. I hope you find her. |

If I thought my dog was stolen by my neighbors, I would watch for them to leave, and sneak over to have a look in there windows, then if I seen my dog, I would be checking to see if the doors were locked, if not I would take her back. Very illegal, but nobody especially living right next door would get away with taking my baby. Ps. I also have a Bichon. GOOD LUCK! |
Oh my... that's horrible. I hope you find her. I hope she isn't lost, keep trying to see if she if over there. It's pretty brave of them to take her when they are right next door, they can't hide her forever if they have her. |

I would love to take her back but all of the houses in my neighborhood come with security alarms. :( |
By the time you got a lawyer the dog could be gone. I believe that I would go over and cause a commotiion and then THEY can call the police. Then tell the police that you believe that they have your dog and you just want to see. The police should ask them to produce the dog. If I truely believed it was my dog I would not sit by and wait. |

I\'d stake out the back yard and watch for them to take her potty. I\'m sorry. The police should have checked out your story and then if didn\'t find your dog tell you it\'s a civil matter. Do you have a humane society or animal control that you could call? Maybe they can investigate it. |
I have no good advice so don\'t take mine lol. i\'d probably be ready to woop half the neighborhood til i got my doggie back lol.. I would walk over and just ask them if you could see the dog that you heard barking. Take your hubby with you. Or call the police tell them that they didn\'t have a dog before and would they ask the people to produce the dog barking just to ease your mind.. |
hmm! Sounds fishy to me. I would think of some way to go to his house. Or have someone that he doesn\'t know go over there. Think of some excuse. And see if its your dog. You should be able to get help from the police with this. If there is no problem then he should show you the dog willingly. Otherwise, I would get someone in there to check it out for sure! Good luck! Keep us updated! |
Ok, here\'s the plan... you hire some kid to do a late night commando stake out..... or you could have a backyard ball game and ooops... someone hit the ball through the back slider.. bummer, gotta run over to check it out and apologize. hmmm wasn\'t me. :D |
OMG ! I would pull out ALL the stops if I thought someone stole my dog....Can you find someone that can get INTO that house under a ruse ? I would tell the cops that you think YOUR dog was stolen and in that house and you want them to go in....This is so wrong if this is what\'s happened. Shoot...I\'d probably yell FIRE to get them out so I could go IN. Id be insane with worry and I hope you get your dog back. Do you have a picture of the dog so you can show it to the cops and have them go back and see if the dog is there ? They can take that picture with them |
I would be sooo worried is any one took my Bunny..I would try to go over to ask for a cup of sugar or something or bring them something.. OR ask to use their phone.. bath room or something.. Heck I would pay a person to brake in to see if they had my dog. thats Nuts!, if they really took ur furbaby, they should be put in jail! |
