Health question for a human I know their are quite a few nurses and the like on her so I thought I would post this question here. For the last 3 days about once a day I'm coughing up a piece of phelpm (sp) that has fresh red blood laced through it. I was wondering if this might possibly be being caused by the dry air and my allergies. My allergies have been really acting up with the rapidly changing weather we've been having and the past few days my throat has felt raw and dry. I know I should probably go see the doctor, but I don't like to unless I think it's something really serious. Thanks for any advise in advance Nikki |
Any one of the reasons you mentioned could be the problem, but to be safe I would have a doctor check it out. You wouldn't want to wait and find out later its something more serious. Let us know! |
Ooh, this sounds bad, but it's honest...do you smoke? I know that is one of the first warning signs of lung cancer. :( |
I do know that some of my friends have terrible allergies and have them coughing up small traces of blood. Usually their throat is very irratated because of allergies and the dry air. if you think it's because of dry air and allergies, i suggest having a humidifier on and see if the helps. drink lots of fluids to keep your throat moist. if it becomes a sore throat do not drink extremely cold or extremely hot/warm liquids as it could irritate it some more. if all else fails, see a doc ;) |

I would go to the docter ..And I was one of those people who never go , it had been 5 years for me when they found out i had a serious lung disease and i never smoked .so if i would have had more infromation on my general health they might have caught it sooner if for nothing else but a history of your body. |
Just last month, I was doing that and went to the ENT and he said I had a severe sinus infection along with a pretty bad upper respiratory infection. He put me on Levoquin 750 mg for 5 days...man!!! That was a rough ride...felt like I had been run over by a truck and took me about two weeks to feel like myself again, but it sure knocked out that infection! The phlegm was gone in like two days after starting the antibiotic...mine was a lovely shade of green tinged with blood...if it is green, it is most likely infection...go to the Dr.!!! Hope you feel better soon!!! |
