Curves As many of you know, I've been struggling with my weight for a long time. Unlike many of you in the weight loss thread, I needed to lose 120 lbs. In Dec. I went to the doctor and my cholesterol was very high. I decided to "take the bull by the horns" and get healthy again. I go to Curves (which I love!) at least 4 times a week, and even went when I was in Mexico! I'm proud to tell you I have lost 26 lbs. and almost two dress sizes! I am eating non-fat cottage cheese, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, more chicken and fish and a lot less red meat. Every now and then, I will treat myself when we go out. Yesterday, we went out to dinner and I ate what I wanted. The difference is...now I WANT different things and I can't eat a whole plate of food! :D My knees already feel so much better! Now if I could just get rid of this darn heel spur! Its always something in your late forties!!!!!! Look for me in next year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition!!!!! :yelrotflm :cheer: :wink2: |

YAY!!!! good for you!!! My mom started going to curves a few months ago...she loves it!! You can tell shes starting to lose weight too!! |

You go girl! Congrats!!!! I just joined weight watchers last week. I have already lost 2 pounds (in one week)! Bring on the warm weather!!!! We will have to start posting before/after pics! |
My goodness, you're doing great! Why don't you come and join the thread for "Lifestyle Changes"? This is for the rest of our life so it's not a diet. It's close to what you're doing now. Come and read the thread and if you're interested, PM Jaspers Mom (Glad) and give her your stats. We'd love to have you. We have others in our group who have a lot of health problems and that's a big reason why many of us are here. Come check us out! |

I am proud of you its not easy and look your doing it ...Way to go girlfriend I to have alot of weight to loose and take drugs that make it feel impossible also have restrictive breathing geez ...but I guess thinking you can is half the battle so I am working on the thoughts ..to choose a healthy life one day at a time .. |

oh...and the good thing about CURVES is that we dont get distracted by the buff guys cause it's only for women. Last time I was in a gym I kind of watched the weight lifters....the only thing that got a workout was my eyeballs... :rolleyes: |
Go there and tell them you are new to a "Lifestyle Changes" and would like to try their gym......ask if they have a FREE MONTH TRIAL PERIOD! |
I'm not sure about everywhere else, but here in Greenville they just had a food drive and if you donated food they waived the initial fee to join. It did end the 11th, but maybe if you go first thing Monday morning and ask about it and offer a few bags of food they may make an exception. It may have just been this area, but I think it was everywhere. Of course, my luck, I joined 4 days before it started and they didn't tell that if I waited I could save some money......oh well.....I'm still glad I did it. |
Bonniesmom...They had that here in Houston and I'm kicking myself that I didn't go in with groceries....but I may run over there in the morning and see if I can get in with that special - so it must have been national....but each is a franchise and maybe they can make exceptions ? and Pat...GOOD IDEA ! I'll try that too :) |

Wow! 26 pounds is awesome! I've lost 16 so far and it seems to take a long time. But, I'm just concentrating on eating healthier, the weight loss is the bonus! Of course if I had a house on the beach in Mexico that would be my motivation too! Congratulations to you, I know you're working really hard. |

If they have a Curves near you, I would strongly suggest you trying it. A girl came in a weighed/measured last week and she had lost 12" in 1 month, I don't remember how much weight. She is also eating healthy. I know my results won't be that good, because I am still eating the same, but I am starting to make better choices and feel much better about myself since I started working out. It only takes 30 minutes. I am going 3 times a week. Let me tell you, if I can be motivated to go, anybody can! Congratulations on the weight loss! |
