WOW! What a day!!! Actually, I should have said "past 24 hours" instead of "day" in the thread title. My daughter and her family are at Disney World (they just called me from the castle in the Magic Kingdom, awaiting Tinkerbells' descent and the beginning of the fireworks). My granddaughter is in a national competitive cheer competition in Disney this weekend and here I am at home, taking care of their cocker spaniel and boston terrier. I left them (cocker and boston) at their home and was going back and forth to let them out in the morning and in at night, feed, etc. We are bringing home Rowdy's brother (same mom and dad, one year later) home this weekend, so I thought it woudl be better to not have the 2 extra dogs here. I took care of them a couple of weeks ago this way - going back and forth and letting them say in their yard during the day and in their own beds at night. Well, last night, we went over about 9:00pm to put them up for the night. It's VERY warm here (92 degrees today). Much to my horror, the boston was not in the back yard. We searched for how he might have gotten out and found a place that he could have squeezed through the fence. I didn't call my daughter - the boston is "her" dog and I knew she would be soooo upset and I didn't want to spoil their trip. So, I went back over there very early this morning, before work, and put up lost dog signs all over. Then at 8:00am my husband call the pound in the town they live in. Sure enough they had picked up a boston in their neighborhood. I thought, how in the world are they going to know that he belongs to us so I had to call my daughter to see if he had on his collar and tags or if he had any identifying marks that she could think of. She WAS so upset, but knew if wasn't our fault. Anyway, he DID NOT have on his collar - she had given him a bath and forgotten to put it back on (don't ever do that!). So, we had to call the vet to fax his shot records to the pound and then (thankfully) they let my husband bring him home. Needless to say, he and the cocker spaniel are here with us today and will be for the next week!!! Also needless to say, Rowdy will be going to be microchipped in the very near future because we do not let him wear a collar, so if he were to slip out of the backyard, we'd be in the same boat. AND now for the great news! We brought Rowdy's brother home tonight!! He is a total sweetie pie, very calm, no crying yet (fingers crossed for the night). His breeder has been keeping him and his sister in a kennel to sleep at night and we have one all ready to go - but I know he will be lonely in there all alone. :( So, wish us luck! I will post pictures of him tomorrow on another thread. Oh, and Rowdy is not too thrilled. He just sniffs him and then walks away, looking at us like "can't you do something about this thing here?!?!" I know he and Rowdy will be great buddies, but right now, we're just trying to get through a very TRYING 24 hours!!! |
I'd say what a day!!!! So glad to hear your daughters furbaby is OK! I'm sure Rowdy and his new little brother will become best of friends. Did you pick out a name for him yet? Best of luck to your Grand Daughter!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |

The puppy's name will be Kipper, Riley, or Casey. My granddaughter and I like Kipper, my husband likes Casey, my daughter likes Riley. I love the British cartoon, Kipper the Dog - so Kipper is a favorite name of mine. But I think Riley is so cute with Rowdy - Riley & Rowdy - how cute is that! But my hubby seems to think it is too close in sound to Rowdy. Both my hubby and I like Casey - but my granddaughter says Casey is a girl name  So........ we are going to look at him for a day or so to see if we can decide! :D |
Wow............. Have you been busy or what???? You must be pooped out! The emotional stress alone would have done me in.......Thank goodness you found him! Congratulations on "RILEY" (my vote) he he he :) |
