WTF is up,with city codes.
 
I jut found out that in Iola you can only have 3 garage sales A YEAR without being charged. After that you have to buy a permit....i guess I should not be suprised because here you have to buy a $10.00 permit to MOVE :eek: . Is anybody elses city stupid like mine????

Here you can only have two.
But the way our sales go, it's over
within the hour it starts.
We end up giving it all away, and find something fun to do. :D :D :D

in my town you need a permit to put a new front door on... sickning huh?
of course i dont tell them.

OMG I have never heard of anything like that! I dont think that my city has a code like that bc in the spring and summer my neighbors have a garage sale every weekend! It gets really annoying though bc I live on a busy street anyways and then I always get cars parking on the road right in front of my house making it hard to get in and out of the driveway!

well im glad i dont live in the only stupid city. I betcha it's because their not getting their cut of the money. :mad: Well i made 948.00 last weekend so they can kiss my A$$ im having one this weekend too!!! :D :D

That's exactly why cities do the permit thing.. I know that if they didn't here we would have flea markets in peoples front yards.. It gets annoying when you want to do your own "real garage sale", but it makes sense to me..

That's alot of ching. What did you sell for pete's sake?

Our city doesn't require permits nor do they have limits.

We don't have anything like that around where I live. Sometimes I wish they would though. There'a a few houses around my area that run a "yard sale" EVERY D**N DAY when it get's warm. But it's not a yard sale, it's a junk sale. They just put up a sign in the front yard and leave all the crap outside. If it's going to rain then they just throw a tarp over it. I like yard sales and my family gets together a couple times during the summer and has a couple big ones, but it's differnt then just leaving junk sitting in your yard the whole summer.

Here you are not aloud to advertise for garage sales with signs, you can only put an ad in the paper. You can't even put a sign up in front of your house! You put a sign up and they fine you!!! I think that the town I live in is snooty! I can't wait to move!

Yea, I got a couple of those too.... I don't want to live somewhere snooty that makes you keep your grass no longer than an inch and stuff like that(there is a neighborhood close by that people actually check your grass and you can't leave your garage door open unless your pulling in or out of it) but there could be something about the amount of junk.... Also another thing is collections of junk cars in the front yard. My dad use to be one of these people. He had 3 cars and 1 truck. Only one would run at a time. When 1 would breakdown then he would fix the next and when it would break down the he would switch again...and so on and so on......

Oh yea, the reason he stopped is b/c of his new girlfriend.... she made him sell them all and get one nice running truck..... I tried to tell him that for years..LOL

Here you have to apply for a permit to have one. But they're frowned upon big time
