Can Ya'll Believe This? Remind me never to eat Domino's pizza http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...058771,00.html http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/03/02/cat....ap/index.html |
Well, I saw him on the Today show this morning and he said this isn't true? |
ummmmm.....you just never know about this stuff.......isn't there a site where you can check out stuff to see if it is for real? BUT then again, you knows if that site is real either? We may never know the truth!!! hee,hee cRaZy!!! StewiesMom - you always find great games and topics.....where do you get all them? Please, keep them coming!!! I always do them all and then forward the link on - everybody loves them! THANKS!!!! |
The site you're thinking of is www.snopes.com. I didn't check these stories though. |

I never check them out either - I read them and pass them on to others - My grandmother, ALWAYS, checks everything that is sent to her....she will then let me know if it was true or not............course, by that time, I have already forwarded it on and deleted it from my email and pretty much forgotten what is was about anyway! :D |
Interesting...I don't see anything wrong with it...I'm sure there are lots of people in the world sick of all the bizarre issues we seem to have....and actually it sounds peaceful. Boring ...but peaceful. :D I could live without the porn and crap that seem to be everywhere you look.....don't get me wrong - I would NEVER consider that lifestyle...but I think our country is obsessed with self gratification and some of the best things in life have nothing to do with sex. Can you tell it's been a while ? :D |
I don't really see why this was posted as a bad thing. No one is being forced to live there. People who have Catholic/religious values will probably find it peaceful and more comfortable place to live in. Many cities like San Francisco or New york practice quite the opposite, but no one seems to have a problem with that. I just people when the topic of religion comes up people suddenly get defensive or antsy to make a point. Good for him for doing something he wants to do, knowing that there are people without the means to create a place of peace for themselves. |
This excerpt pretty much sums up how I feel about it. Simon said the US Supreme Court had already ruled “ownership [of a town] does not always mean absolute dominion”. “If he wants to build a town and encourage like-minded people to come and live there, that’s fine. We get into problems where he tries to exercise governmental authority.” |
It's "for real" and I think it's terribly unconstitutional. He was on the Today show this morning talking about how it's a big lie, but I don't believe him. I think he's just covering up his tracks since he's in the spot light. If he does start a scary place like this, I hope that the SC beats the crap out of it before it gets outta hand. |
The article said that the town will be just east of Naples Florida. I lived in Naples and the only "wide open space" big enough to hold a town to the east is the Everglades... then you hit Miami... It must be a joke... |

I don't know. I don't like the idea of some billionaire controlling what a town watches on TV, what their pharmacy sells, etc. Catholics aren't above the law. If they were, I woudln't have been picked up by the cops so many times ;) He even said on the news today that he wouldn't want gays to live there. Wow. That's pretty scary to me! and I'm not gay! |
LOL Kristy - I snuck that in there... :D I guess it's to each his own....I don't go for enforced anything (cept the law) and I've been known to bend those a bit when I was younger too...but it's all in how you look at it. One person would see a Controlling Millionaire.....another may see it as a place to escape a crazy world... but I don't see why gay people would be excluded and think that is a whole nother issue all in itself. Sometimes religioun needs to catch up with real life...... MAN I HOPE I DIDN'T OFFEND ANYONE ! I just think what people do in their 'private' life is no ones biz...even the church kids are exposed to so much these days...I'm really glad mine are GROWN |
As long as they keep church and state separate. I would hate for 'my' tax dollar to be used for 'his' utopia.... Cuz' if that's allowed I want to build Yorkie Town!! In Yorkie Town: NO big mean dogs allowed. No leash laws. No meter maids but LOTS of poopy police! Yorkies allowed in all public places. Subsidized groomers. Pet shop on every corner. Free doggie day care. Socialized Vet care. Free spay/neuter. You get the idea... :p :note2: :note: Won't you take me down to.... Yorkie Town!! :note2: :note: **sung to the tune of Funky Town** |
Personally - I'd rather not read this stuff - pretty soon, I won't eat any food from anywhere. Ignorance is bliss. AND - like a lot of you have mentioned - how do you even know when these things are true. I don't know if you remember, but a woman came up some bizzare thing (a year or two ago) that she found in her food at a fast food place, and in the end, they discovered she had made the story up to win a law suit. Apparently, she was on welfare, didn't work, a real weirdo, and had had many previous other false suits. When they found out more about her, her suit was kicked out of court, and I believe she was fined... Carol Jean |

We have a place like that in Southern California. I'm sure many of you have heard of Loma Linda University Hospital. That's where the first heart trasplant baby was. Anyhow, the city of Loma Linda is a Seventh Day Adventist city and the entire city abides by their belief. It's pretty interesting actually. I'm sure there are plenty of cities like that accross our wonderful Nation. That's why we have the freedom to choose our belief and where we live. Saying that... I would not live there. :D |

Stewie and I are very interested, Sherry Lynn oh, and like you needed to even say that the damn song was meant to be sung to the tune of *funky town* |
i don't see anything wrong with it either, it seems to be okay for kkk, for poligamists, other "groups", etc..to live in a town of their own wether it was intentional or not. so why not have a town for catholics too, atleast it has to do with our lord and not something evil. he is not forcing anyone to live there, if someone decides to live there that is their decision and right. |
This place is for real...I live in Naples area, and it's right by here that they're building the town...It's called the Town of Ave Maria. I don't see anything wrong with it, it might be a nice change of pace for some people who practice those beliefs. I think he has the right to do this cause it's not like he's forcing anyone to live there. |
He's not forcing anyone to live there, but that's not the issue. He's saying that he doesn't want certain types of people to live there. |

So when do we start building Yorkie Town??? :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :coolsmile |
Stewies Mom---I have refused to eat Domino's pizza for years, because of Monaghan's stance against abortion for absolutely any reason. He has donated huge amounts of $$ to anti-choice causes. That's his perogative, but I don't have to support it by buying Domino's pizza. Here's the good news: He sold Domino's a few years ago, so we can now order out again! But I have become a Papa John's customer in the meantime. :p I don't want to get into an arguement here about abortion....clearly I am pro-choice. But there are people in my life (some of whom I love very much) who are against it, and we still respect each other. If our Supreme Court is struggling with the issue, I don't think YT can resolve it. |
