i was watching the news last night and they gave this website about sexual offenders in your area www.familywatchdog.us very informative. there was 3 in my area :eek: i didn't know them thank god. i was surprised though because i live in the country and not many houses here.

came across that link on another msgboard a few years ago. considering i live in the city, i wasn't surprised with what i found.

yeah if you click on there name, they show a picture of them. i didn't recognize any but was shocked. i moved out of the city to get my kids away from that kind of stuff. i guess it don't matter where you live :eek:

I got this in an email once before and was FLOORED :eek: by what I found. There were "dots" on top of my little house. It really made me aware of surroundings. Scary stuff! i wish they listed all of the photos, on my map only the red dots have photos attached and there are not very many!

Yes, bad people are everywhere. I live in a rural area and we have our share.
What is also scary are the ones not on the list, who have never got caught yet! :mad:
I teach and practice safety at all times with my daughter.
And hope our guardian angel is on Duty. :angel2dl:

Our state police has a registery on their website. I've looked at....none literally IN my neighborhood, but dang close. There's a run down trailer park close to work, there's a bunch living there. Two guys I noticed listed the same address. How the heck are they allowed to LIVE together...you know the police have to know if I noticed the same address immediately.

Something I think about....where so many of these people around when we were kids (I'm 45)....and while it may have happened...it sure didn't seem as
prevalent as today. And the internet, which I love, works certainly to their advantage :(

Me too. I used to give my daughter all kinds of speeches. I have finally told her in regards to a stranger....if anyone ever approaches you....run and scream loud. If you're not close to home go to ANY house, if you can get in, don't waste time knocking....just go in. We'll explain later. What scares me worse than strangers....someone you actually know. :(

I have seen that website before! It is so sad what this world is coming too! My husband grew up in a really nice neighborhood with his parents and they currently still live in the house and have for 22 years well when we typed in his address there were 3 on his street one being the guy across the street! Very scary! There is also one in my town that lives right next to the elementary school and I dont see how that could even be aloud!

WOW! Thanks for sharing. I remember a couple years ago it was Megan's Law (I think). We had a meeting in school (I'm a teacher) and they informed us of a sex offender in the area. We were not allowed to divulge any information about the person to anyone! I can't believe it's on the Internet now!!

At least you can locate who they are here in England they are protected by the police I could have one living in my street and would not know.

OHG! I looked up my address! And there are 11 in my area! Including one a few houses down from me! The one on my street was accused of trying to molest a child. There were a few others with 1st and 2nd degree child molestation. Very scary! Makes me not want to let me kids play outside without me watching them every second!

Law recently passed here in VA forbids them from living within such and such distance from a school. Of course, laws are for law abiding people......

I'd be THRILLED if there only three.... I live in a big city... According to watchdog, I have 545 near me!!!!! And from the looks of it, one of 'em lives right across the street from my house! Scary.....

Had to bump this back up. They just passed a law last night in the parish (ya'll call them counties) that I live in that ALL sex offenders will have to wear tracking devices (global positioning bracelets/anklets to be exact) so that they know where they are at all times. Pretty cool!!!!

There are a ton in my area

but I just wanted to add that some men are registered sex offenders because they were 18 and got their 16 year old gf's pregnant. The dads of the girls get mad & press charges. Just something to keep in mind. Some of the younger ones could just be victims of the system having sex w/ a girl a year younger than them. Just something to keep in mind.

Kristy you are right. It is something to keep in mind. It is sad when that happens but we have to still be so careful around the real monsters!

Holy cow, I just did the address search for my area and there is one within a 0.72 mile distance from me!!!! OMG!!! Scary stuff there, really. Thank goodness it shows their picture and gives their name. I'll be watching for that freak for sure! Thanks for posting that site. I appreciate it.
