What words have you made up and use on a regular basis? I use and say often~ Ju-JU ( said just like it's spelled) Ju-Ju is a word you use when you don't know what something it called or it doesn't have a name. It started before Scrunchie became popular I said " I need one of those hair jujus" So now it is used for anything I don't know what to call it. And it has caught on quite well, the other day my Bf's 12 year old used it in conversation, just like it was a real word. :D So what's yours? |
One word that my son has made up is actually a combination of two words. He thought this up when he had just turned 4 but he still uses it... Arguing + Aggravating = ARGUBATING! |
Bump~ |
My husband does this ALL the time!! Here are a few right off the top of my head... Porkie - a fat Yorkie Yorkshire Terrierists Carbage - trash in the car Carcalepsy - falling asleep while in the car Reflectacks - those reflectors tacked in the middle of the road I'm sure I'll be back with more! He has so many and I find we use them all the time like they are real words. |
This is not a made-up word. It's rather inexplicable and I'm not sure where I got it from, BUT if something is really cute, I give it a middle name. For example: My nephew Jack is now Jack Anthony Marie Stewie is Stewart Anthony Marie my VW, which I had named Benny is now Benjamin Anthony Marie Yep, it's weird. and yep, I only use Anthony Marie. |

"Y-aw Y-aw" is what we call someone who is crabby. I have never had to spell it before so I don't even know if I spelt it right! It's kinda like "ya-ya" but with a "W" sound to it. |

Our term for someone who's crabby is....Crabella. If you really want to tick off my daughter....that word alone will do it ;) |
LOL, those are some good ones Sherry Lynn, please do share more... Love my little Yorkshire Terrierist! :) |
lol, i know im gonna get laughed at but.... i scream FALANGIE or SHNIGEE! instead of cursing! i also say chinket which is like something reallllly small i also tend to say thingie alot when im lazy. like, mom where is my thingie? she tends to make fun of me by saying, oh right next to the thingamabober inside the thingie and the thingie should be there! |
We also use the term beer-flu for that aliment caused by alcohol. |
Let's see...I gave a pet name to my sister Kasi: She is foofay, a pet name to my cousin Joey: Pogey, and a pet name to my cousin Matt: Matteesh. :D |
don't know if this counts - I adopted my dogs and their names - Bubba and Roxy - they both have Rae for a second name on their registry. Now I sometimes call my male Bubby Rue - sounds fun. My mind is a fuzz right now - but I do make up words. But probably one of the most famous made up words I know is Jabony - this is a word a teacher made up at my high school and he would say some kid was a jabony - meaning goof, or something - well he used it for yrs - guess we all laughed. This teacher is a friend of my dad's, and later I found out that the administration stepped in and said he had to stop using the word - Political correctness, wouldn't want to offend anyone! So, be careful even made up words can hurt - LOL |
My kids call crutons (sp) the crackers you put on salads, crowtens Pretzels are called Printcels My daughter when she was little wanted to know why there was no girlsenberry yogurt. And her corduroy pants were her potatoe chip pants. Her Pajama's were called Jamason. Because we'd say go get your jamies on. |
;) Anything that the correct name doesn't come to me immediately becomes a "hooley"! My two year old granddaughter makes some great new words! For instance, she always is Miss Independent and says "Idodat" meaning "I can do that"! I just think it's adorable! ;) Her Mom was famous for words .... she was such a tiny little thing, she had to wear suspenders a lot!! She called them her "Spensers"! :p |
cleaning out my old subscriptions today & I came across this thread - thought it was a fun thread and deserved to be dug up out of its 2-plus year slumber & bumped up!! :p |

I also am a snoop & have spent time reading really old threads - I've gone back to read the first threads ever posted on YT  -- I didn't bring them back to life, but I was a snooper! Or some other good word for that! |

I like threadscavator! :) I am trying to think of some others...the threads are old and dead, so maybe something about graves, mummies, zombies, etc..??. I have a word that isn't a word I use on a daily basis..zerbit! That's when you are giving a puppy or a baby a belly rub and give him a kiss on the tummy and make your lips vibrate. It tickles them. I have no idea what the real word is for it. :D |
We call those zerBERTS (instead of zerBITS) at our house and the Poopanut goes absolutely nuts if you do it to her! LOL :p I use the word "gihugic" (pronounced gi-huge-ik) when I'm describing something really big. Hickeydooger (hick-ee-du-ger): what I call anything I can't remember the name of I like the word "threadscavating". What about "spethreading" (kind of like spelunking/caving) |
LOL! Sounds like both versions came from the same word, but I wonder where it started? I like "spethreading". |
I say booshi instead of bull sh*t. I say a lot of others but cant think of them, they just slip out lol |
