Is your digital good at capturing action? Mine isn't. It's such a headache trying to get pictures of Lilah. I push the button, and three seconds later it takes the picture, and she is gone! I took pictures this morning and my throat hurts from calling her name trying to keep her looking at me! Any recommendations? |
I had that problem with my camera .so i got a cannon rebel ..which eliminates all of that i love it ..but they are pricey ..but worth it in my opinion .. |
I have troubles at times also capturing those action shots, mainly due to the delay. :( So, I kinda gave up on those types of shots and leave them for AlaskaYorkie to take those of Eddie & Jack LOL. Now I pretty much say "sit ~ stay" and capture the shot. :p |
I have the Canon SD500 and it captures action really quickly. It actually has a specific mode for Children and Pets that move so fast. They have this option where I can take like 3 fps and its really fast.. I really enjoy My camera a lot :D i do hope to get an SLR in the near future. |
We just bought the Kodak P850 and it has a sport setting so it captures action shots with no blurring at all. |
I have a casio and it is quick. I also just bought a new Sd card that is like an Ultimate II and it is for action shots. The guy said it speeds everything up shutter speed, loading time etc. It does seem a little faster. |
I have a Nikon Coolpix and it has a action option. Yeah...........but that is only good when I am outside in the day. Lousy for inside shots. No matter how many lights are on or what. I am getting ready to invest in a Canon Rebel myself. Just need to decide if I want the first Rebel or the XT. |
Check your manual and see if you have a sport setting or a rapid capture setting. There should be a way around that. Bren |

Hi...I think we all have that with digitals to a degree....What I do when trying to get action shots is aim my camera in FRONT of the girls about 4 feet ahead - like if they're running thru the yard - aim where they will END UP ....and not directly on them - it's hit or miss but it does work |
Shutter delay is the biggest pain in consumer level digital cameras. If you look for a new camera, go to dpreview.com and read the individual reviews on the new cameras before buying. Phil usually talks about shutter delay in his reviews. A digital SLR will have the least amount of shutter delay. The Canon Digital Rebel was mentioned and is probably one of the least expensive digital camera bodies that is available. It will accomplish exactly what you're looking for. Now . . . that said, do I miss a point and shoot digicam? Heck yes . . . but I do LOVE my DSLR tremendously! I'd never get good shots of sports without it. :) Lisa |

And hzlis, indoor action photos are going to be difficult no matter what camera you get. The only benefit to a Rebel is it has a setting where you can change your film speed (ISO). You can shoot pictures as high as 1,600 ISO, which might let you capture action in a well-lit gymnasium, but it won't do much in the average house with room lights. If you want to stop action indoors, you might try using a flash and seeing how that works for you. |
Not about action shots but still about digital cameras, the other night I learned something in a photo class: they said the camera should be set for "tungsten" for everywhere in the house but in the kitchen and that should be set on "flurorescent". |
Thanks for all the good info, helpful hints.. on this thread. |
