Hundreds Of Puppies Checked For Health Problems Hundreds Of Puppies Checked For Health Problems Puppies Taken From Unlicensed Kennel POSTED: 7:54 pm EST February 13, 2006 UPDATED: 8:34 pm EST February 13, 2006 Video: http://nbc10.feedroom.com/index.jsp?...eed5d2680d374f Slideshow: http://www.nbc10.com/slideshow/news/...s;p=news;w=400 OXFORD, Pa. -- NBC 10 News has learned new details about hundreds of dogs that were removed from a Chester County property. More than 300 dogs, some cats and two parrots were taken from a kennel in Oxford where authorities said the owner was operating without a license. The Chester County SPCA said it removed the animals because they were living in horrible conditions. "We found about 70 Papillions in another building. Many of those animals had limbs that were broken. We're talking, all around of all of the animals that came in, several of them have mange, possible pneumonia," said Chuck McDevitt, of the Chester County SPCA. One dog that is suffering from mange -- a skin disease -- had lost most of its hair. "We're barraged with calls right now from people wanting to adopt these animals. They're not available for adoption at this point," McDevitt said. Michael Wolf owns the kennel in question. The SPCA said Wolf lost his license to run a kennel two years ago. Wolf has not been charged with anything. He says he has done nothing wrong and that he is living a nightmare. Laura Hewitt paid Wolf a $500 deposit on two King Charles spaniel puppies named Winston and Wallace. Wolf said he would give Hewitt her money back, but Hewitt said she has already bonded with the puppies. "They're growing up. With every day a puppy changes," Hewitt said. The Chester County SPCA needs financial help to take care of the puppies until they will be ready for adoption. http://www.nbc10.com/news/7022681/detail.html |
