I'm finally happy!! Hi Guys!! Thought I would share my story. I've hated my job for the last 6 months. Have you ever been at a job that you hated so much that it made you a very irritating person? Well, thats me. After job searching for months even years I was finally offered TWO positions. One had a great future and benefits the other don't pay well with no benefits but its what I want to do. I've been really stressed out making the decision and I decided to choose the job that would make me happy over the "secure" one. I gave my 2 weeks notice to my job last week and even then my company gave me crap. They wanted me to stay a MONTH rather than 2 weeks. I DON'T THINK SO! So, 2 more weeks at this job and then I'm off to pursue my dream. Word of advice...never settle! Your happiness is worth more than money. I'm starting over in a low position but I am determined to work my way up the hierarchy and live my dream and I would advise all of you to do the same. Thank you for letting me share! |
I am happy for you. I once left a job that made me miserable and took one for less pay and such. I too decided that money wasn't everything. It was worth the cut in stress. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! |
I admire you for making a hard decision and making the one that will give you happiness over monetary. I'm sure you will quickly work your way up doing something you love. |
thank you so much for your encouragement! I accidently posted this thread in the wrong forum. Sorry Admin! I can't wait to LEAVE! |
I think its wonderful what your doing! |
You are right...why work some where you really do not either like or want to work at. Now if you had no decision that would be different......Great for you to find something you really like and want to do. |
Thank you so much for your kind words. |
Congrats! I think you will find yourself a lot happier and healthier. I had worked at a job (the same job, same position) for nearly ten years. I LOVED it.....I actually looked forward to going to my office....the company catered to those with children and such, so it was easy to take off early for school events, etc. (course, no one ever took advantage of this...because we all got along with each other, the bosses, etc and we all tried to help each other out). Anyway, the company changed, the people changed....it was just horrible. I finally took the chance and turned in my notice, but gave longer time, so I could finish out the month. Well, the letter went in on a Tuesday and they called me at home that Friday and said that I didn't need to come in. Luckily, I had already had all of my stuff, so there was really no need to go back. I felt bad though because I thought I was being helpful by giving them several weeks (almost a month) notice....oh well. I have never looked back....I do not regret leaving and I have no intentions of ever going back there. I do not work outside of the house now and I get to spend all that time with my family! I have found, as does everyone around me, that I am healthier and happier. I have more energy and I never come home complaining about something or stressed about something. Good luck with your "new beginning"...... |
Congratulations on the new job! Unfortunately these next two weeks will probably drag like time standing still. But they will end and life will be rosey! |
YES...the nest 2 weeks will be hell and I have to train the next person. Jen...you hit it right on the nail!! I believe that I deserve to be happy and hopefully I will be happy at my new job which I think I will. I made a sacrifice (pay and position wise) but I am confident that its worth it. Thank you ALL! |
Congrats on your new job and you do deserve happiness! :) Your health will be better with the job and career you want! |
i think you made the right decision. you will have a job you like instead of being stressed. good job to you! |
