ETA - i've never been to NO, but have always wanted to. however, i wonder if it will be worth even going anymore, since as you pointed out, things will be much different, and not in a good way. |
[QUOTE=red98vett]This is just the kind of thing that needs to be brought up by the media...QUOTE] The local media covers it all 24/7. It is on the news here and on the front page of the papers everyday. It just does not have national attention like it did months ago. The local news points out the problems and tries to help, but there is too much going on to make a huge dent. |
I'm guilty of not reading the replies yet so forgive me if this has been said already. What I've been hearing when listening to WWL talk radio (especially with Garland Robinette) is that FEMA is willing to pay whatever people are charging in order for their employees to have housing while working in New Orleans. That has driven up the price tremendously for all rental property. I truly believe it sucks too! New Orleanians need to be able to have a place to live in order to return to the city to put their lives back together. FEMA needs to get their workers the heck out of the city and allow them to commute back and forth from farther points outside the city. Let the people of New Orleans return!!! I feel for you! Lisa |
