I just wanted to let everyone know about a phone call I got today. It came up Unknown Caller on the id & usually I don't answer but for some reason I felt like I should. Glad I did! It was people calling asking about what kind of tv shows you watch....comedy, drama, etc. They are the people that do the Neilson Ratings. Anyways..she just asked if I would fill out a log of everything I watched for one week. I was like sure why not...I'm bored! :p Anyways...at the end of the call she was like thank you for listening & filling these out. And to thank you we are sending you $40 with the booklet!!!! :D I was like wow that is so cool!!!! :thumbup: I was so happy I answered the phone & didn't hang up on her! So if anyone gets someone calling about what kind of shows you watch....DON'T hang up!! Just thought I would tell everyone! :)

I got a phone call a couple of weeks ago from a company called Dove and it was for movie and tv ratings too. Well I listened to the guy for like 15 minutes going on about how children are watching too many adult things these days bc of all of the ratings and then he had to schedule to call me back for some reason. Well he called me back the next day and at the end of it all he wanted me to donate money to help change the tv ratings. So I guess you got the better phone call I got ripped off!!!

Did you donate? I've gotten that call before 2 but after like 5 min I was like I need to go! I hung up on him! :p

I have done the Nielson rating thing before, a few times actually and have gotten paid everytime. The amount varies but hey, money to watch TV and log is worth it!

Wow, I have NEVER gotten a call where they wanna give ME money always the other way around! I screen all, so even if they call I'll miss it. :cool:

i got a call like that around 2 months ago about radio stations and they sent me 2 dollars in the mail 3 separate times... so i bought a pack of cigarettes with it.

What company was this that called you ? When checks are cashed don't the banks cash the checks that are being paid out, with your id on the back along with your bank account number? So many scams these days, was curious what company would be calling to do this.

Its the company that does the Neilson Ratings. These are the ratings that tell how popular a certain show is.

We were Neilson families a couple of times, but we didn't get 40 bucks. It was $1 per booklet per how many tv's you had. And they did, indeed, call us on the telephone.

Did on-line surveys too. Those offers I received in the mail, gave you the web site and pin number....once you'd completed the survey (basically asked what web sites you visited), they sent you 5 bucks. Made about 25 dollars doing those, before they realized...this lady doesn't "do" anything but ebay, yorkie talk, a basket board, and google....over and over every month :rolleyes:

My mom and brother (both in SC) have both been Neilson families. They put something on the TV that looked like a cable box that automatically logged what they watched and sent updates daily so they would know which were the top shows. When you turned on the TV you had to punch buttons on the box so they would know which person/profile was watching the TV.

I pretty sure they got paid for it, but I don't know how much. I do know that they had problems with one of their TVs one time and the Neilson people paid to have it repaired...

My number is on the no call list but that doesn't seem to stop some people. I don't get as many of these calls but I still get some.
