Need a little cheering up! Hi, Everyone! I'm still sort of new here. The people I've met here are so incredible so I figured I'd send out a little cry for cheering up and hope someone has something to pull me out of the dumps! My kids are 11 and 9 and generally pretty healthy... maybe 1 or 2 sick days from school.. not much to write home about.. I worked for a big insurance company for 16 years and that's how things went.. my attendance was pretty good.. but downsizing last year and I went on unemployment for the first time in my life..LOVED behing home... got to the end of that and dh said ok.. sorry honey.. but get out there and find a job.. being home we realized I didn't need to work those full time hours. I could be home for the kids and take a part time job... so I found an Agent friend who I worked with years ago who knew me and applied with him.. he was happy to hire me because I had a pretty good reputation..sounds not too bad so far, right??? I've been with this agent only 3 weeks so far... first two weeks great... then the stomach virus set in... ick! one at a time... we all got it.. I managed to find backups to watch the kids so I only really missed a day.. (I work 4 days a week, though and I was going to work my day off but was puking that day too so it was a big mess...I ended up calling him two days in a row saying I wouldn't be in... I made up my day on the weekend) all in all.. 1 day lost.. and back to work I go.. to my brand new job... trying to make a good impression... with a boss who hasn't had a sickday in 8 years! He has 3 kids but a stay-at-home wife!!! Here's my kicker!!! got a note home from school friday with my oldest... Chicken pox in town... no problem.. they were vaccinated! WRONG! woke up this morning.. my boy has Chicken pox! :( I know how this works.. he'll start getting better and she'll get them, right??? What is up with that vaccine??? There's an epidemic in my school right now and most of the kids had their shots! Guess it just was too new and theyr'e finding out it wasn't all that effective!!! I know.. I know.. not the end of the world.. should count my blessings.. people with much worse problems than me! but I just can't catch a break! Now my mom-in-law offered to watch them for me tomorrow so I can at least go in and tell the boss that I will be missing some more time.. I'm scrambling for daycare and just feel so crummy! Mommy guilt plus new worker guilt! :( Of course.. my Chompie is right by my side while I'm fretting about what to do.. she knows when I'm down (like all our sweeties do) and gives me her Chompiekisses to let me know she cares!!! Thank goodness for furry hearts and wet noses! I just wish I could get past this bad luck streak!!! |
Try to look on the bright side. Easier said then done I know. For me when it seems like there is a black cloud hanging over my head, I try have faith in that things happen for a reason. We may never find out why, but a lot of times I do. :) Hang in there! |
Hang in there, it will get better soon. You know the saying "IT WILL ALL WORK OUT". |
I agree with everyone and it sounds like you need a hug too...Look at it this way - everyone is getting ALL the illness out of the way and maybe you'll have a very healthy year ahead of you |
Hang in there Donna! Things will work out. Your boss has kids, so he knows all about kids and chicken pox. I'm sure he will under stand. Let him know how you feel about missing work and that you will make up the time. He is a parent, and all parents know the children come first.Glad you have your furbaby to lighten up your day!!! :) :) :) |
Keep your chin up...it will get better! As far as the chicken pox shots, they need the shots if they've not had the chicken pox. It doesn't not immune them from the chicken pox. They can still get it just a mild case of it. |
Thanks! Thanks, guys! I feel better now.. All done feeling sorry for myself! My boss was totally cool with it... He was more worried that there was no way for him to expose his 3 little ones! ( I explained that I had them and so did he so it was not going to happen) but he said if I need off.. just call! My son is feeling fine.. just looking crummy so the vaccine did do it's job.. he has tons of spots but not as many as I've seen on other kids that I've seen... Anyway.. I just really needed to "vent" the other day and I appreciate the sympathetic ears! Happy days are ahead! :D Thanks again! Donna :) |
Oh I know, sometimes it feels like it's just you,, but remember, Someone always has it worse. I try to remember that when I feel down. Speaking of Chicken Pox, 2 years ago, My boyfriends daughter was just getting them, had the fever, but we didn't know what it was,, then she goes back with her mom,and Jim tells me , " Jade has chicken pox, that's why she had a fever." I NEVER had them... and about 2 weeks to the day, that we had her,, I get a fever,,and the next day, they appear... NICE! I'm 35 years old with chicken pox,, on my birthday,,, Not fun! Oh, well it passed.. I did get some seriously funny pictures out of it. |
Hang in there ! Being a mom ..wife ..and having a job isnt for whimps .just know that 24 hrs is all the time till a new day and in this moment ..things are fine ..give yourself a puppy kiss and Mini will wag her nugget ...Go gentle on you . |
