Buying New Flatscreen: What Do I Need In 75+ inch 4k TV? Going big or bigger 4k TV. What are the basics that you love/hate about your 4k big screen, what must I include to enjoy the best picture, color quality. What do you detest I should avoid and what is essential. I really appreciate any help anybody can toss my way, am at sea as far as what to look for. My old 55'' is now 10 years old, just too small. |
Interesting question and can't wait to hear answers. I'm also thinking about a TV addition. |
I have the curved Samsung and love it! |
We, too, treated ourselves to a new 4K smart tv for the holidays this year. Our 55" was almost ten years old, and we moved it into my husband's office so that he can watch his golf while working on bills, etc. It is a Samsung and works just fine, but wanted bigger, 4K and a smart tv. We went back and forth regarding 65" or 75"...both would fit. We decided to go 65", and I am glad that we did, even though I was on team 75". I do not like sitting in the front at theatres as I find it distracting endlessly moving my eyes back and forth to follow the action. We are firmly "middle" of the rows people. Even with the 65" it can be hard to take in the whole picture, and I am afraid that the 75" would have been more distracting if we are spending the day binge watching. Husband one, me zero on that decision! That said, we stuck with Samsung. We are loyal to brand, and have smart tv flatscreens in all of our four bedrooms. Guests are treated well chez Simpson, and everyone raves about the picture, as well as teens are thrilled with their ability to facetime friends, and play video games. Added bonus, BJ's had a slamming deal, and even included a coupon for $50 at playstore! Very happy, and during this stay-at-home we are thankful that decided to purchase. |
Besides the brand, what models are the best and what features do you need? Is there UMD or UHD or something like that one needs in a 4k? And what mhz or whatever do you need to watch movies on one? Thanks! |
My husband is the "tech" guy who compares all of the features. You are right...there are a ton of variations out there. We chose a Samsung 65" Q8DT QLED 4K UHD Smart tv (QN65Q8DTAFXZA) - 2020 model if that helps. The colors are amazing, and watching movies is a wonderful experience. My favorite feature is the extremely narrow border around the picture. If you google the model it may give you an idea of the specifics. Good Lucck! |

I LOVE the bigger screens as you can see background objects in detail, a feature I fell in love with when I went from 36" to 55". Discovered all these details in the sets of TV shows, movies, etc., I could never see before at home, nor pause at the movie theater to inspect and love it. Even the older decorating details of set rooms, such as the wonderful old art deco pieces in old B&W movies, paintings on the walls, titles of books on shelves, etc., I mean weird things like that sometimes really catch my interest and I even zoom in for a larger view, haha. Old and really new kitchen tools are a favorite, don't know why, I'm no cook. I think the bigger the better picture for an inveterate lover of details of set decor, accent pieces, furniture and antiques, etc., in movies, tv shows . Often have to go back and rewatch the show to enjoy the plot after I've enjoyed all of the set decor. costume details, whatever, one formerly only saw on the movie screen, etc. |
If you have Netflix, try watching The Repair Shop. Tons of vintage/family heirlooms restored by true British craftsmen. Tons of articles which would be seen in the background sets of period films! |
