No more Yorkies :( I was very active here quite a few years ago and dropped off besides a few check ins in the past few years. I got busy with a house, marriage, and babies! A few of my check-ins have been about my sick dogs. Layla, my first baby, passed away a year ago tomorrow, and Lucy, our rescued Yorkie cross passed away in May. Our remaining little senior Maltese cross was given 3 months to live in January due to late stage congestive heart failure, but has been doing well on his medication and is still going strong, although his kidneys are showing signs of possible failure now due to the meds... Something we were told would likely happen if his heart didn't give out first. For now, he is happy and not in pain so we will continue as we are. After Lucy left us, we started the search for a new dog. We have made the decision to only adopt rescue dogs from now on. Unfortunately, rescued Yorkies don't come up often around here. We ended up falling in love with this mixed breed puppy rescued from a northern community. She was listed as a terrier but she looks like a smaller golden retriever to me! So all of this is to say, I don't have any more Yorkies :( I would love to again someday but for the next few years it is not in the cards. I will probably still pop back in here from time to time to see pictures and read stories, but for the most part I will not be active here anymore. I love this group for all of the love and support I've recieved over the years! |
3 Attachment(s) I thought I'd add some photos as well of our new pup, Willow. |

100% agree! |
I had wondered about Layla! I'm so so sorry to hear of her passing. You were such an amazing Yorkie mom to her! I am also sorry for your other losses -- how difficult. :( I am however super happy to see your new cutie! Congrats! I think it's safe to say most of us here at YT still would love to see your updates. :) |
Awwww - LOVE the pics!! And listen -- your kiddos, all of them, forEVER and always - will all be part yorkster. So you should always feel welcome to post your "yorkies" here! You've been part of this fam for wayyyy too long, my friend :), to just fade away or something...so please don't! Save |
Just think of your new fur baby as a "Yorkie wanna be".......just saying... :D I am driving a Nissan Rouge that I call it MY HUMMER WANNA BE.... LOL |
Dont go. I think you have A maybe Golden Cross. But she is very lovely looking. I am here with 2 Black Russians and one Yorkie. Dog lovers are well dog lovers and this board excels at loving all dogs - no matter the breed. So stay in touch - if you have training questions I would be happy to answer from a *multiple breed* owner lol lol |
Good to see you and wish you well. You are a great parent to your pets. |
Wow, thanks for the responses! Maybe I will stick around if you don't mind me still being here :) I mean, as much as I have been here lately anyway lol! Willow is definitely a yorkie wannabe! She is a lap dog through and through, although my lap is not big enough for her lol. I weighed her this morning and she is now 20 lbs and somewhere between 7 and 8 months old we think. So she may have a bit of growing left to do, but she won't be a huge dog. Gemy, I may take you up on some training tips too! We are currently going through obedience classes and just had our second last night (I finally found her "million dollar" treat - cut up hot dog wieners) and she is doing very well. Being used to yorkies and other small breeds, Willow is actually blowing me away with her willingness to learn lol! It took me YEARS to try to get my dogs to ring a bell to go outside, and NONE of them did it, ever. I started ringing the bell every time Willow went outside and one week (ONE WEEK!!!!) later I was across the house and heard a dinging noise. I went to the back door and there she was, wanting to go outside. I couldn't believe it lol! Our biggest issue now though is her jumping on the kids and biting at them to play. It's a work in progress! Thank you guys for all the love :love: |
So sorry for the loss of your little Lucy, glad you have changed your mind and stick around, welcome home. :-) |
What !!!??? in just one week your Yorkie wannabe is ringing the bell??Awesome !!!:D I just placed my bell at the patio door.... again....!! I have high hopes this time it will work....keeping my finger crossed.. :) |
