A dog's purpose? |
I saw an ad for this last week. I will definitely see this movie |
I was planning on seeing it with a big box of tissue but after all the controversy now I'm not sure. |
I think I will be reading the book instead. I was SO looking forward to seeing it..... it's a bit ruined for me now. Hopefully this will send a message to the industry. |
I still saw it!! It was a GREAT movie. Tearjerker! I cried like a baby. The controversy was insanely dumb and had ulterior motives by none other than PETA of course. This article provides another perspective. It's not playing in my area right now :( |

Oh no, it was that big a heart tugger? Was it the same for you watching my dog spot or Marley and Me? |

There was so much controversy with a clip that was released by TMZ on dog abuse that I decided I will not watch it. For those who haven't seen the clip, this article references it: The “animal abuse” in A Dog’s Purpose doesn’t look much like abuse Hot Air The makers of the movie obviously defends themselves. But regardless, I found that clip very hard to watch. :( Here are some Twitter feeds by some celebrities on the clip: Celebrities Calls to Boycott Universal Pictures' 'A Dog's Purpose' | PETA |
Can they find anywhere a dog was actually injured filming this? |
I have no idea. Ellen DeGeneres brought up the point where, it's kind of odd that they didn't leak this clip until the week before the movie release. There are arguments to both sides of the story... I won't ever know what goes on behind the scenes. I guess, I just don't want to watch it. It's like going to the circus believing that the animals aren't poked at with sticks. Have you watched that movie Water for Elephants? It got me so teary. |
Josh Gad Responds To 'Disturbing' Leaked Video From 'A Dog's Purpose' Set [UPDATE] | The Huffington Post Guess people can decide for themselves. Nice to know animals aren't killed like the movies I grew up watching |
Isn't PETA the organization that "rescues" dogs from people and then kills them? I have not seen the video but I have seen videos of horrific abuse, i.e., the dog festival in China and other things that I wish I could forget. I am in no way saying what happened is OK, but on the "abuse" scale, this will not make me lose sleep as other cases have. This whole thing seems to me to be motivated by something other than genuine concern for the welfare of the animals. If the person who shot the video was really concerned about the animal why did they wait 15 months to release it? I can tell you why. It is worth more money now. I am glad the video came out. Hopefully someone will be held accountable and any future abuse, small or large, will be stopped before it happens. But if this is the worst thing that happened in what was probably hundreds of hours of filming with animals, I will still go see this movie. JMO. |
I'm going to see it tomorrow |

PETA would prefer us not to even own pets. It's cruel to want them for our own love and selfish reasons. They do not want animals acting in movies, period, which IMO is dumb. What happened was this dog was jumping in the water over and over again on one side and then they decided they wanted him to go to the left side and the dog got spooked. The trainer was trying to put him in the water and clearly he didn't want to. Kind of how Jackson acts when I try to give him a bath. So trainer grabs him back up and they waited until later to shoot. The video is SPLICED in the middle to make it appear as if they just 'threw him in' anyway. This is a dog who likely gets the best vet care, a warm bed every night, good food, and love. I didn't understand the social media witch hunt and outcry for this dog when there are millions who are actually abused every day. I guarantee 99% of people bitching on FB, etc, don't even contribute any time, money or thought to homeless pets or abused dogs but yet boycotting a movie already edited and released is going to do anything. If anything all it did was cause harm to rescues who were going to be profiting off of the events and the premier etc of the movie. All so silly IMO and a shame that this great dog-centric emotional movie got jaded with this dumb video that barely tells the story and released by TMZ and peta (not known for credible sources). |
I watched the video and while there is no doubt the dog did not want to go in I don't see a single moment where this dog was ever in harm's way. There were people all over the place and, while it's not good that they were trying to push him in, he was never in danger. I have had bigger battles with Max in the sink trying to give him a bath! |

I saw it and loved it. Really got me thinking on a lot of levels. And I stopped even trying to wipe away the tears. I decided to get the book afterward because I'm sure the movie, as good as I thought it was, doesn't do it justice. |
If I can be reincarnated, I could only wish to come back as good and as loving as my Dexter. I realize the actors and everyone on the movie set were there to make money. I hope, they also were there because it was a wonderful storyline and they loved dogs as well. I'll judge it for myself in a few hours |
I also wanna be reincarnated as my dogs too! Enjoy the movie! So far it seems like most have enjoyed it :) |
Sweet and touching movie. Enjoyable for the whole family :) |
