Cleaning products/ Vaccums So due to diabetes my pup has been peeing all over our tile floor. I'm not sure if it's because of the sugar in his pee but even when I mop the floor tends to be sticky. The pee is also seeping into the grout! I don't know what to do (I currently have 3 pee pads out and let him out a million times a day and night but he still is having accidents). I got some Clorox pet urine spray which seems to work really well but I'm wondering what y'all use. Also does anyone have a tile cleaning vaccum they like? I was looking at the Shark 2-1 blast and spray maybe? Our tile area is huge and it might be worth the investment to get some sort of tile cleaning device. Thanks in advance! |
I have all tile and I use the Hoover Floor Mate. The following thread tells all about it...lots of YTers use it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/off...floormate.html |
Yup, I have the Hoover Floor Mate as you can see by the thread Lj is linking :). |
For the grout... Maybe lightly coat it with clear caulk? Or put strips of clear tape (something thicker like packing tape) on the grouts so at least then the pee won't seep through. |
You should seal your grout. You paint it on with a small paint brush. It's like a coating of clear acrylic that liquid won't go in to the grout. We use it on all tile we install in our house so it's waterproof and holds up to mopping. |

This is interesting, IF you can deal with doing this in a whole house. I have way too much to do, so I need to find a professional. But, this might be good for small areas: Making Old Discolored Grout Look Like New | Young House Love |

I didn't know. A huge portion of our house is tile, this would defiantly be a prodject. For right now I found Simple green is doing a pretty good job and I am looking into that floor mate. I just ordered a belly band so we will see if that helps. Also he's doing a little better, I got a Alphatrak but I feel so bad poking him all the time :( |
