Sticky situation Just started a new job about 2mos ago...I received an email today from an automatic job listing svc. Much to my surprise one of the jobs was a add that my boss placed . The ad said that the job duration is indefinite my job is supposed to be permanent...we do have a miny busy season right around the corner but I was not expecting him to hire anyone. It is only myself and him in the office. I am thinking I should just ask him if he is hiring. But not sure if that is a good move and I do need the job. How I got the ad is very explanatory......I just never cancelled the auto list service....forgot. He is kind of a cranky old person so I really never know where I stand. |
Good morning Tinav; perhaps he has a second person coming in to help... in any case I would just ask; besides your fairly new. Worst case scenario he plans on replacing you. Or perhaps he just forgot to delete it. Good luck and Keep the Faith. |
Sometimes it is better to play the "wait and see" game. Time will tell and by keeping quiet you won't breach a developing sense of trust. |

I would assume that since yours is a permanent position, and the ad posting is for an indefinite amount of time, that your job is safe. Maybe just wants back-up for the busy season? |

But I do feel a little in secure there. Plus he already let go the person who I replaced and the part time guy (he was a guy) is gone....so he does let people go quite often. He is the type of person who finds fault even if it is his imagination, lol The person I am replacing was there 3 years and he let her go. I just got deja vu, lol. Anyway I did send out a resume today just to make myself feel better. Doesn't hurt to look and if I start getting some response i won't feel like I will be out of work for ever. A better out look always helps. But thanks for posting....I will keep you all up dated of course. I have off tomorrow...taking the furbutt to the beach. Have a great evening. Hugs tina |

Whatever makes you happy honey!! Enjoy your beach buddy!! As for the job, seems you got some options out there in the world.... This boss sounds like a hard person to get along with......... Good luck! |

We will see what all this means ...in the mean time I will dabble in the job market. Oh btw he also told me that besides him letting people go sometimes people leave. Strange man....very strange. Hugs Tina |

Sometimes you really don't know what another person is going through until you walk in their shoes and sleep in their bed. Perhaps the email you got was a just a delayed update to a posting that occurred prior to his hiring you. And about the wife, things may not be right at home. Is it possible that the wife is seriously ill, thus the migraines and the odd looks from the boss when you mention her? Things aren't always what they seem. In this roller coaster ride we call life, we can't always be sure where the next twist and turn will lead us. Sometimes you just have to hold on, ride it out, and hope that time will give you the answers. When you work for someone else you aren't in control. If you don't feel secure or happy in your current position, then perhaps sending out the resume (and many more) is the right thing to do. Good luck, and I sincerely hope you find out what is going on. |

I know the ad is current cause it was placed on July 23...so he may have already interviewed some people. He could be holding interviews on the days I am off ( working 3 days per wk till Sept if the.job lasts) or he could be holding interviews at one of his clients offices.....but who can say until and if he does tell me. But I will sit tight and send out some resumes just in.case. But thanks again for your thoughts. Tima |
Hi guys.... Just wanted to give you a little update. Things seem to be quiet on the home front. Boss seems to be a little more pleasant and open (not that he wasn't before but there seemed to be a period where he was pretty quiet). He was out of the office a lot his week and a lot of closed door telephone conversations I am guessing that they were due to business stuff and not so much hiring. This has not been the usual but I am there a short time. I found out that the ad runs for 60days unless he set up special arrangements. He asked me to work an extra day this week and I am hoping that continues (for the $$$). I am supposed to be fulltime by September. Oooh deja vu again! But my gut says if I am still not feeling comfortable/secure at the job then I must keep or start to look as I have been...natural progression. September could be a good time to look also. But thanks to you all I am not feeling as threatened by the ad and have a little more confidence. But there are times he still gives me a little of the heebee geebees, lol. Oh well could be me could be him, lol ? Hugs to you all... tina |
