I have rice but no recipie I have to go to a pot luck dinner tomorrow night for my church, I am one of the leaders of the church according to our preist. Humm I just thought I was the token young person :D Anyway we are suppose to bring something for the potluck dinner and I have oodles of rice in the house, my dad's a bulk shopper, after so many years my dad doesn't seem to understand her live with 2 non furry women who don't eat guy portions. So does anyone have a simple rice dish that I maybe could make tonight so I wouldn't be running in a panic tomorrow after work trying to get something ready? Thanks :aimeeyork |
Adjust the recipe depending on how much you want to make 2 cups fat free low sodium chicken broth 1 cup rice 1 small head broccoli cut in small florets 1 small box mushrooms cut up 1 small tomato cut up 1/2 cup frozen peas 1/4 roasted red peppers cut up Put veggies, rice, and broth in pan. Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat. Follow rice instructions for cooking. (depends on what kind rice you have). Fluff with fork. Place in lovely serving dish, garnish with finely chopped red and green peppers. mmmmmmmm... I am HUNGRY! :D |
mix 1 cup dry rice to 2 cups water- bake in oven on 350 for 1 hour or so... add shredded chicken, chicken broth, and velveeta cheese. bake until cheese is melted. stir throughly and ad more liquid if too thick. Very good!! ( to bake rice, any amount will work as long as you do twice as much liquid to dry rice before baking. i used to work as a cook at a senior center) :) |
here this is SIMPLE and tastes very Good, well following my Latin/Spanish traditions! Mexican Rice 2 cups of water 1 cup of rice Garlic powder (to taste) Consomate (chicken flavor, to taste, cubed spices) Onion( slices, if you like onion) Get a pot and put in a bit of oil(olive or vegetable) put in the 1 cup of rice and brown it a bit , for about a min. then add 1 cube of consomate mix that in a bit then add the 2 cups of water, stir that a bit, add onion slices for taste if you like, lower the bunner and cover the pot for a couple of minutes.. Once you see the water become absorbed by the rice you can shake in some garlic powder and mix that well in..... add salt to taste if needed. That's it! |
