professional look, 1/10th the cost 1 Attachment(s) I know a lot of people have been buying paintings from waistful, or anyone that has things that they need framed...... you can do it and get a professional look for REALLY CHEAP.... for example....... If you have an aaron brothers/ michaels around, you can take a peice of art or a picture, and match up a mat to it (the mat is the green/cream peice around teh rose in my example) and get a frame that fits with youre decor at home, AND the picture... in this example i used a frame that had vines/leaves on teh outside to further express the floral motif... it is VERY EASY and VERY CHEAP... The frame was $18, and the matting i allready had at home (i think they sell for $3 or so)... so this whole look has a profesional look to it and it only costs about $20  (waistful.... i hope you have your pen scribbling down these hints REALLY FAST) lol :p |
Beautiful It looks GREAT!! Nice job! :D |
Awesome! |
That is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! |
OK! About this rose picture - Are you Amanda Sinclair, or where did you get it? It is absolutely beautiful and it is very kind of you to give us this advice. |
thanks, but the purpose is really to educate.... i was in the aaron brothers picking the stuff out and left it on the table for a second... well this lady walked over and she was going to take all the stuff up to the register to buy it (including my drawing) she was really cute, it was an old lady. . . I offered to sell it to her for $300 if she really wanted it(fully framed and matted with wire hanger )... she couldnt afford that, but she took my number down just in case her son could  It is amazingly easy to get this "expensive" look without the cost... On a further note: i used to WORK at aaron brothers as a "desighn specialist, certified framer, and sales associate"... which basically meant: 'just give it to me and ill make it look GOOD'...lol A lot of people are blown away, they would take HOURS searching through frames and matting, but it usually takes me 5 minuits to get the right look ;) .... Anyways, i just wanted to let everyone know how easy it is to get a really great look for low budget (certified framing for this same style as my example would have had a ballpark cost of 300 JUST FOR THE FRAMING) |

Very pretty!!!!!!! |
Way to go! Nice frame. |
It looks great! Thanks for the tip. |
1 Attachment(s) That does look great! I do my own framing and matting too and it's very easy :) There is no way I'd pay what Michaels charges for that!! Here are two pics I framed and matted tonight. The frames are a cherry wood and the matting is a muted gold...I haven't hung them yet so they are just sitting here in my office floor but they are going in my sons room....he has a rustic western look decor and he loves horses :) |

oh i would also like to point out.... when you pay for a custom matting you are paying for the mat, and for each cut that is made to complete the mat to your specifications. . . The problem here is this: the sheets of matting that are used are HUGE, but if you are having a small custom frame job done (say an 8 x 10) you are still paying for the HUGE mating and the extra that can be reused on someone elses picture AND that other person will be paying full price as well for left over mating ect.. The frames are all sent out on order to the frame supply warehouse and they are cut to the lengths on the paperwork, there is no overcharging on these because it is all truly custom done... but the mating practices are a little "shady", the person paying for a custom frame job does not get the extra mating left over from the job, and if they ask, the answer is going to be NO, or SURE THAT WILL BE such and such amount of money Any other dirty little secrets you wanna know? :D |
