How soon can I take a pregnancy test? I had unprotected sex (pull out method) the day before my period on 2/28. I was supposed to have my period on 2/29 but I never did. I'm now almost 4 days late. When can I take a pregnancy test? This is a scary situation. I haven't had sex in 6 months and it happened with an ex I broke up with 5 years ago.! My period is usually on time, sometimes even earlier than usual but seldom late. I took plan B today. It might be too late though. |
It's highly unlikely to conceive the day before your period but not impossible. The ovulation window is the highly conceivable period which is 2 weeks before your periodand. If you are accurate in tracking your period then you should be ok. Taking the plan b is effective up to 72 hrs after unprotected sex, and it should bring on a heavy period within a couple of days. Best wishes! |
OMG....this post menapausal old woman remembers those times.....my husband and I just could not afford a baby, I was in nursing school and working full time, and ....well, you understand the anxiety......bless your heart..... "....... All ClearblueŽ Pregnancy Tests are sensitive enough to detect hCG in your urine from the day of your expected period. Additionally, you can use ClearblueŽ Pregnancy Tests up to 5 days before your missed period, although the pregnancy hormone levels in your urine may not be high enough to be detected. If you test early and you get a “Not Pregnant” test result, we recommend you test again when your period is due. Tests that allow women to test earlier than 5 days sooner than the missed period can be prone to produce false “Pregnant” results in non–pregnant women. Clearblue does not compromise on accuracy. Although highly sensitive, Clearblue Pregnancy Tests have been carefully developed to ensure the industry standard of over 99% accuracy from the day of the expected period. Please note these are abbreviated instructions, you should always read the in–pack leaflet before carrying out a test. Learn more about ClearblueŽ Pregnancy Tests....." Good luck....whatever you want the results to be, I so hope you get your wish..... |
That will vary based on the test you used. I believe it is too late for the plan B. The sooner after it is taken the better it works, but it does work up to 72 hours after. It may make you sick to your stomach so be aware of that. It made me nauseous when I had to take it once after a condom decided to rip down the middle. You should also consider getting tested for common STIs, such as chlamydia, since this was with an ex lover and you are not in a committed relationship. 5 years is a long time and he could have contracted something. I wish you the best. |
