It's funny this thread was bumped up again!! I was watching the Food Network this morning, and saw a show called Chicago Classics, about all the food specialties of Chicago. They had the Chicago style hot dogs and featured a restaurant called Irvings for Red Hot Lovers. Ever heard of it Kristy? The other places they mentioned were Connie's for deep dish pizza, Robinson's BBQ, and Cliff and Buster's Maccaroons (sp?). Of course I instantly thought of this thread! It all comes back to YT, doesn't it! :p |
Bumping for Stewies Mom |
Here in Northern Illinois it's the corn capital. A lot of towns have corn boils in late summer (about back-to-school time). We also have a lot of pumpkin celebrations along with pumpkin pies, pumpkin breads and cookies. |
I'm originally from Trinidad&Tobago in the West indies (just of the coast of Venezuela). My beautiful island home is famous for Spicy foods like curried chicken, roti, and Pelaeau. Mmmmmm, now I'm homesick. LOL |

SLT ~ I have heard of Irving's, though I've never been there. Connie's is my most favorite pizza ever. I go there or order in at least once a month. Robinson's is excellent and I dated a guy who lived like 3blks from one, but I don't go there anymore because it brings back too many memories. lol. I am such a sap. I had to google cliff and buster's and apparently Oprah loves them: http://www2.oprah.com/presents/holid..._food_01.jhtml Great, now I'm starving! :D |
Alright, I am now drooling on the new keyboard and will probably have to go get another.... Allentown is famous for Yocco's hot dogs, just your basic dog with their special chili sauce. I was lucky enough to have one of the owners as a girl scout leader, so we had 'em at camp. You gotta eat about 4 and down 'em with chocolate milk. I have to bring them with me when I visit my uncle in FL or the door won't open. I think I would trade for a Chicago dog in a sec. Also, white birch beer, lebanon bologna and perogies are standard fare. |
Kings Inn - seafood right on the beach at Riviera with secret tartar sauce that people all over the world buy by the qt and gallons and ship home. It has a guest register with people from Hong Kong, Washington D.C. etc., in it - REGULARLY. It is good. I like our texmex food too. The best of everything. |
