Former Rock "Star" (Me) at open mic night!
 

OK, here's probably a little bit more info about me that you NEVER wanted to know, LOL! My husband Dave and I used to be in a pretty popular rock band in VT before we moved a couple years ago. The band was together for about 8 years, and we really did have a great following. There is something pretty darn special about coming to the end of a song, hearing a breath of silence while your own heart just pounds, and then the explosion of applause from a happy and enthusiastic audience!!!

My friend Paula emailed me that a local club was having an open mic night Friday night, and my hubby Dave and I decided we would go and maybe play. Six of our friends came, and we had the biggest crowd there, lol! There may have been 30 people in the whole place. But Dave and I did a half dozen songs, and MAN it felt good!!!

I asked my friend Paula to take some pictures so that I could email them to my son, and after we left the stage she said "something happened to your camera, it went funny on me, and it took me a minute to figure it out. I think I took a video, but probably mostly of the floor!!" LOLOL So when I downloaded it this morning, this is what I found! This is a Susan Tedeschi tune. I just LOVE her!! Forgive the vocal, I am REALLY out of practise!!! The guitar my husband is playing is one he built from scratch! The man is a genius!

Wow this is good to know!! I use to be a drummer retired like you :) and I have met Susan Tedeschi here in Chico! we have a blues society here and we usually have bands that we promote.. the last time she was here is when she was playing with cold blood! 1999 wow too cool!! how many other retired musicians here?? Although your voice has not retired! you sound great!!

Actually, I would love to be back at it, but we just can't seem to find the right musicians or the right places to play here. Or MAYBE we are just getting tooooooo OLD!!!!

I wanted to hear the whole song too and even my nine year old son said you were COOL!!! now hows THAT for a compliment :D Your voice is awesome!!! You remind me of a movie I saw (don't remember the name) but Meryl Streep was in it and she sang....anyone remember it? Your voice and manerisms (sp?) reminds me of hers too :) :thumbup:

Hey we've been to Topsail the last two summers with our dogs for a week long vacation! It's a beautiful place! We took Bentley and Bitsy and ALL six puppies last summer :D

Ok SO where did you stay?? I have a huge family that gets together every other year and we have 9 adults and 6 children, and then if my two come that would be another 2 adults. I need a big house.. Any suggestions? ( and the thought that I could bring my babies!! Yeah ) Could you PM me with some info , if you have some, Thanks

We stay in the big houses because my husbands family lives in Wilmington and always come up to visit while we are there and also my Mom, sister and her kids always drive up and stay with us for a few days. Both homes we've stayed at were VERY nice and right on the beach. Lots of them allow two dogs with a pet deposit....we snuck the six pups in :D

We stayed at "Blue Two" last summer..4 BRS 3 baths and the summer before we stayed at "Sea-Duction".....you can click on those two and see pics...I highly recommend those :thumbup: Both right on the beach :)

Hey, that's OK! I have never been to the shore even though we have been in NC for 2 years!! Maybe we ought to have a YT gathering in Topsail, what do you think??? :D I'll make Dave bring his guitar!

Boy that would be FUN!!! It's a beautiful place!!! Very quiet (unless we all were there of course, LOL :D ) and not commercialized like some of the carolina beaches.
