Wow I thought we ducked the rain from Bill in the San Antonio area, but in the last hour we have just gotten a huge amount of rain. My backyard is about 3 inches deep right now, Cookie was squatting down into the water to pee. What's crazy is this storm started up right here and isn't moving at all, it's just growing and the rain is just going from hard to very hard. Can't imagine what today has been like for the DFW area though. |
My back yard is flooded once again from all this rain. It's been raining here since 4 AM. Seems like it now starting to slow down, but now we have winds. |
Been raining, hard at times, most of the day but right now it's almost partly sunny - very light outside. I think we're due more Bill bands moving in tonight. We got just drenched twice today - rained buckets and the wind was wild and other times it just rained lightly. |
My cousin lives north of Ft Worth and he just posted on fb that at 1:15, he emptied 5.5" of rain out of his rain gauge. Then, at 5pm, he emptied another 7". Y'all have it way worse than we did (I'm just southwest of Houston). But all the rain y'all are getting in the Dallas area and on south fills up the Brazos River so it is predicted get up to major flooding stage in a few days. Here we go again. We are very safe behind of levee, but others aren't so lucky. |
Yeah, this is getting a bit disconcerting again. The wind here is phenomonal, too. It's blowing everything over. :/ Just crossing my fingers and praying that all us remain safe. |
You may have seen this however, if not:confused: Dallas, Texas - Average Rainfall - Current, Historical Data Stay safe all of you in Texas. |

So far warm and sunny this morning! Thank goodness Bill didn't hit Dallas area as hard or as long as some predicted. Hope this wasn't our last rain event until August heat storms or first fall coldsnap moves in! |
I am glad the rain has finally quit for now. We ended up with around 8 inches over a 3 day period. We are fine here but some homes and business in southeast Texas got flooded. I think there is still a thread of flooding in some areas from the rivers. |
Can't believe it - it's raining again - this little cell is over my neighborhood and pouring more rain. At least it's not pouring but just lost satellite TV service from the rain. Ah - back on again. Maybe this is Bill's last trailing band for us. |
Now it's pouring rain. |
WOW Jun 16, 2015 · ... near Wimberley was destroyed in flooding on May 24. ... rains dumped 37.3 trillion gallons of water on parts of Texas during the month of May I thought I had read trillion and thought that can't be however, when I checked it was. :umbrella: |
It's been a wild ride for the last few weeks. I was wondering if I should have built an arc. I wish I had thought ahead and gathered rain barrels for August, I'm guessing we'll be wishing for rain by then. lol Thanks for the prayers, Maximo. They help, I'm sure. :) |
I find it pretty strange when I look up the records and it says we had 3 inches of rain the other day, when the water in my backyard was deeper than that. When Cookie squat down to pee during that downpour it was basically peeing in the pool. |
As difficult as the rains and flooding (and death, which is far worse) have been, all of this rain has been a huge blessing to the reservoirs in central Texas and the hill country that have been under severe drought conditions for the last several years. Lake Travis hit a low of 618 ft in 2013, and I'm not sure how full it was at that time -- ~20% -- that's just a guess. They were predicting that it would be dry by 2016. (Officials predict Lake Travis will run dry by 2016 - MyFoxAustin | KTBC | Fox 7 Austin | News Weather Sports ). And here we are today: Lake Travis Water Level This is a time lapse video of it filling up just during the month of May. At the end of the video, it was 67% full, but today it's 82% full: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZtNJXO4IZ4 From May 20-27, it went up by 25 feet! |
