Can somebody tell me what is the difference on the two ? for those who will response thank you so much in advance it means alot to me :) |
I'd do some research on getting a tan from a bottle instead, spray on. I mean, I'm not going to... ;) but if you just have to have a tan, look into an alternative. :) CDC - Indoor Tanning - Skin Cancer |
What do you mean by is it "more effective" -- can you clarify? |
I would never encourage anyone to begin indoor tanning. I did so for 10 years, and the damage I have done to my skin is terrible. I have over 10 moles that will have to most likely be removed and biopsied and I absolutely think it's because of my use of tanning beds - it's not worth it! I only use self-tanners now, two of my favorite are: Fake Bake Flawless (I use the Darker formula) SUN Laboratories lotion (Dark - mix with lotion, this stuff is really good!) |
In my 30's I owned a ladies spa and had 3 tanning beds, of course I had to use the to advertise. BIG MISTAKE! I looked great then. I am in my 60's now and have had several skin cancers removed from my chest and biopsied , they were basal cell carcinoma. Not the bad ones BUT could have been! I have several skin damage to my chest and so many mole things on my body now. Dont use the beds, and the sun is bad too. Check into the spray tan. Or any of the lotions. |
Young lady, PLEASE listen to the voice of experience talking here to you!!! I never used a tanning bed, but I was into surfing and sun bathing....and I am now 66 with brown sun spots and I am continously watching for skin cancers....the have been talking on TV and in many, many publications (Prevention is one I subscribe to) about the dangers of tanning beds and how the incidence of skin cancer is every bit as bad if not more so, than exposure to the sun. Those tanned little sexy bodies look great when they are young.....but as you age, that all turns to a leathery appearance and skin cancers and moles!! Do not even go there!!! Listen to these ladies with first hand experience of tanning beds, and over exposure to the sun! Use the spray tanning products....they have some really great ones and they do not turn all orange like they did in the 60's..... |
Nothing will age you faster than tanning with any kind of UV rays. Smoking and drinking are close seconds for early aging but long-term UV ray exposure just saps youthful appearance. I think even spray tanning is having a hard look lately as anything that affects the melanin of the skin is thought to maybe artificially age it and all of the methods of tanning increase your chance of dying from cancer. |
Embrace your pale skin now and forever. You'll look younger longer and won't have to worry so much about skin cancer! Tanning is over rated and ages you tremendously. |
Kinda strange topic for a first post. Anyway, I used to use tanning beds when I was in my 20s. I am naturally very pale and my skin is very thin so you can see all my veins, not cute. But the harm tanning beds do to you are so bad. I'd say even worse than the actual sun. At least if you get real sun, you get vitamin D, also you slowly build up a tan. With a bed, it hurts your skin and feels really hot. The cheaper beds will burn you and not even get a tan. Plus tanning salons are not cheap. And they try to sell you their lotions that are like $50 a bottle. The best is to get a color from self tanners, plus a bit of sunshine each day. Also I go swimming a lot in the summer. I use a high spf (50) and still get a tan. |

As far as many people "looking good and feeling better when they are tanned", some people feel better getting high on heroin.....but that does not mean it is good for you or that you should risk it because a dope dealer tells you how great it is..... |
